I'm Back
Posted 11/15/2006 12:26:21 AM All I can say is 'I had a blast!" Who can beat 2 days at Disney and California Adventures. It was 6 crazy adult youth leaders without their families and we enjoyed the days at our leisure. I loved all the rides but almost had a heart attack on Tower of Terror. I don't do freefalls well and should never have gone on that one. It's nice to be home with my family again. I love my children and my husband is unbeatable. Sometimes it takes going away to realize how special our lot really is.
Off to Cali
Posted 10/31/2006 12:48:23 AM Well, it's late and I just finished packing. I am going to California in the a.m. for a week. No kids, no hubby. Just 6 of us traveling to go to Disneyland for 2 days and then off to the National Youth Worker's Convention. Last time I went was 2 years ago in Atlanta. Plane trip was AWFUL due to the weather. Had to take 2 pills to mellow me out...no joke, it was bad. Don't like planes much but the nose of the plane actually pointed further down....uh, it's not suppose to do that. Yikes.
Credit Card Debt Reduction in 5 Simple Steps
Posted 10/29/2006 1:32:59 AM Perhaps you are one of many American's today who struggles with owing more on your credit cards than you care to speak about. Let me begin with a series of questions: 1. Do your finance charges exceed the minimum payment due? 2. Do you find yourself charging more each month on your credit card that what you paid towards your last statement? 3. Does your debt cause you to lose sleep or heighten your anxiety? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, I may be able to assist you in a very effective way to reduce your debt and lead you to a path of financial freedom. First of all, you will need to take a good hard look at your spending habits and ask yourself if there are any areas that are excessive and unnecessary. The change can only begin with you. If you are ready to commit to a complete financial overhaul, you will need to embrace change. While change may be especially painful when it is connected to the pocketbook, it is the only way to break free of the endless cycle of accumulative debt. Now, let’s begin our journey. - Make a list of all your credit card debt. Write down how much you owe and the interest rate for each credit card. - Whenever possible, consolidate. Be on the lookout for any promotions offered by your credit card company. If you have a good credit rating, you may receive offers to transfer your debt from one credit card to another for an interest rate as low as 0% for a period of time. Regardless, seek an interest rate that is less than what you are currently paying to avoid excessive finance charges. Be aware of hidden fees. Sometimes you can find an offer to transfer balances without a transfer fee. - Create a payment plan. Now that you have decided to radically change your spending habits, how much of your monthly income can you apply towards reducing your credit card debt? Be honest with yourself. It is important to assess your payment plan without setting yourself up for failure. If you find you are unable to make a reasonable payment amount to significantly reduce your debt, you may want to begin seeking alternative ways of creating a cash flow and begin applying that income towards your debt reduction. There are a lot of ways you can make a P/T income at your fingertips if you set your mind to it. - Create a progress chart. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to write your payment plan on paper. I found the Columnar Pads to be very helpful in my organization and charting process. These can be purchased at any office supply store. Simply list your credit cards in order of the least balance due to the greatest balance due. Determine the amount of each payment to be applied to each credit card and document in each column. A payment should be made to each card on a monthly basis, with payments being applied from each paycheck received. This will keep you on a strict budget and on track on a weekly basis. NOTE: You will want to apply your largest payment to the credit card with the least amount of debt owed. All other credit cards should receive the minimum payment due until this first credit card is paid off. Once you have paid off the first card, proceed to the next credit card with the least amount of credit card debt. Continue with this process until all credit cards are completely paid off. - Reward yourself! The psychology behind this is simple! Once you have paid a credit card down, by all means celebrate! However, simplicity is the key. There is no need to throw a huge party and spend a ton of money. Life offers many simple pleasures. Choose whatever luxury or simple indulgence will aid in motivating you towards you goal. This financial plan was personally created when my husband and I found ourselves in a heap of debt when the stock market spiraled in 2001/2002. We were forced to sell our way out of approximately 3 years of annual income in the stock market in less than a year and we used our credit cards to shore up our stocks in attempt to avoid selling more stocks. Huge mistake! To our despair, we owed 50% of our annual income to our credit card debt. You can only imagine the emotional and financial turmoil we faced on a daily basis. Always up for a challenge, I began to organize our finances on paper and chart out our progress. As silly as it may be, I actually put a ‘star sticker’ by each payment made and continued to chisel away at each credit card until is was paid off. The heavy burden on our backs became lighter until we were finally set free from all the debt. Today we are debt free and in the process of building our dream home with a minimal house payment on the Pacific Ocean, due to our lifestyle change and savings strategies. Personal and Urgent
Posted 10/25/2006 5:37:14 PM I feel so small. We put so much stock in what this world has to offer. Money, fame, recognition...etc. It's all fleeting. As I write this I am in tears. For those of you who believe in the power of prayer, please keep this family covered. Tera is young and pregnant with her first child. She is due relatively soon and this is tragic. The following message was received in my in-box today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **Please pray for pastor Kerry & Laura’s son-in-law, Darrin. He has non cancerous tumors growing through out his body. Hospital Tumor board is meeting to figure out what to do…Please Pray that God will give them wisdom. Darrin is at home and not able to work, he is in pain. Please keep Darrin & wife Tera in your prayers.

My Space, Your Space, Who's Space?
Posted 10/12/2006 1:06:48 AM I am writing this out of parental frustration. I have girls. Girls love to chat, gossip, back bite, do the girly-girl thing. It's my fault, but I have allowed a compromise in my home and I am sorry I ever crossed the line. My girls are all on instant message. Oh, come on. It's just IM. Big deal, right? This is the 21st century. Mistake! I am a youth worker and I see a lot of the things going on with these kids. They are going to places we never imagined. Talking about things without any sort of parental guidance and being exposed to all kinds of stuff that make many of us shiver. I knew I never should have allowed this but against my better judgement, I did. Does anyone know what it is like to put the Genie back in the bottle? It ain't fun! My middle daughter tells it like she see's it. She was very threatened by it to my surprise. I guess it is because she draws a clear line and sticks to it. My oldest daughter doesn't and she is the one who has the friends with all the inappropriate stuff. But this isn't the only reason for my decision. Most of us know about predators, sexually explicit conversations and photos. I'm not dense. Some of my daughters UNDERAGE friends are wearing fish nets and hot pants. WHAT is going on here? My daughter put a photo of her baby brother on there but who knows what she was talking about on there! Frustration has turned into control. I know one of the senior security technicians/programers for HP. He offered to do a community forum for parents. I can't wait. Several of us as parents have banned together to rise up against IM and set the guidelines. These kids are not the ones in control. We are....at least we are suppose to be. No wonder so many parents are scratching their heads and wondering what happened to your youth. Just a tip. If you really want to know what your kid is like, read their my space blog. You'd be surprised what the 'wholesome' kids are writing about.

Starting A New Business
Posted 10/11/2006 9:45:40 AM In response to a question regarding my income at this time, I would be lying if I were to say I can survive solely on my home candle business at this time. As with any new business, it takes time, planning and goal setting to get a business off the ground. A strong foundation needs to be built in order to succeed in the future. I am in the process of building a strong foundation and in the few short months I have been with this company, I have seen a tremendous response. I am excited about sharing this opportunity with anyone who may be even remotely interested in the MLM industry. While there have been a few companies out there that have given this industry a bad name, there are many reputable companies out there that provide us with a great opportunity to be financially independent. This company is one of them and the foundation I am building now will be my stronghold in the future. Rome was not built in a day. Anyone interested can log onto my website at opt-in to my autoresponder. You will receive a series of emails designed to inform you about the business and discover if this is a right fit for you. I don't want just anyone on my team. I want serious individuals who share the same vision as I do. I will partner with you and help you discover how you can fit this business into your lifestyle. http://www.oceansidescents.com/
Assisting Others in Reaching Their Goals
Posted 10/11/2006 1:20:56 AM I have to say I have spoken with a number of women this week and many people are interested in joining my team. I love talking with these people as they all have a different story to tell and a different goal in life. I am excited to be a part of assisting them in reaching their goals and helping them with their business plan. I have found that so many people across the country don't even have the $39.95 to start their business. It's an investment that could very well change the whole finacial coarse they are on. Yet, if they don't have it, then I can't pressure them. I did mention to a few women that they could begin taking orders from friends and family members BEFORE they sign up with the company. Then, they could use their money to sign up and make the order. Everyone wins! What a great way to start your own business! http://www.oceansidescents.com/ http://www.mysplashpro.com/scentme2heaven/
Industrious Money Maker
Posted 10/3/2006 6:14:27 PM One of the great things about my business is I really can stay at home and earn an income. I don't have to pound the pavement to make contact with my customers or potential team members. My business goes where I go and it doesn't own me. Success is only a phone call away! I truly can profit in my PJ's.
Internet Marketing
Posted 10/3/2006 3:20:31 PM Like so many others, I am on a quest to learn how to market both myself and my MLM business online. I have to admit, this has been a bit intimidating but I have grown so much as a person through this experience. I have had a lot of fun and am begining to see the fruits of my labor. I believe it is important to put our best foot forward and try new things. Marketing trends are always changing and it is important to keep up with the times. With the help of many wonderful people directing me, I have been able to successfully create and launch my website. This is something I never dreamed I would do. As a result, I will be building a few other websites for friends and charities. I found a wonderful business building tool you may find of interest. Please feel free to check it out. I am no where near finished, but this is a start. Just follow the link below! http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/workshop/success-by-candlelight/
A Lighter Topic
Posted 9/24/2006 12:50:32 AM I received a phonecall yesterday to attend a women's fair locally. The other lady who sells candles was unable to attend because she was sick. I was so excited to be able to go because I thought this would be a huge event. It wasn't. Only 30 people attended in the 9 hrs I was there and there were about 20 vendors. Ouch! At least I didn't have to pay for my booth space and I didn't have to travel. The whole event was rather fun and it will be better next year. This was the first women's fair and is suppose to be an annual event. I am excited to be able to help women on my team get out of living paycheck to paycheck. This has been a committment of mine to actually train them to succeed. Of course, they have to actually want to succeed and I have learned that I can't do it for them. I can only show them the road and how to get there but I can't do the work for them. Those who want to rise to the top will strive to get there. If you or anyone you know is looking for a home business opportunity this one is great. The company is relatively new and provides us with excellent training. I like the fact that I can do fundraising with the product and make money without having to do home shows. I like the shows but with my kids it can be difficult at times. Mold Can't Grow in the Dark
Posted 9/24/2006 12:38:09 AM In response to my last post, I don't know that feelings of inadequacy are abnormal by any means. I have spent many, many hours on late-night drives with my girlfriends and we have had very in-depth conversations about things we normally wouldn't discuss otherwise. It's kind of like a mini slumber party when we are driving late at night and it's pitch black outside. I have discovered many interesting facts about other women that are completely contrary to my initial perception of them. We live in a world that tends to hide behind a mask of perfection. We are afraid to let others know we are imperfect and some of us will go to great lengths to make sure others hold a perception of us that is untarnished. I have met many apparent "Leave it to Beaver' families that have ended in divorce. I have met women who have hidden affairs, men in the church who have struggled with private porn addictions, drug abuse, anorexia, and the like. There is freedom in admitting we are an imperfect people and restoration when we are embraced by those who love us despite our downfalls, failures, character flaws and shorcoming. I have many. Some of which are very obvious to those who are closest to me and some of which are hidden. Am I normal? You bet! Do I have 'issues'...oh yeah! Don't we all? It just tells me my heart is still beating! lol http://www.oceansidescents.com/ http://www.mysplashpro.com/scentme2heaven/
Overcoming Ourselves....do I dare even try this one?
Posted 9/22/2006 11:01:24 PM This is for all those people out there who struggle with who they are. I am writing this from my heart and with complete understanding of what it is like to live in a private world of feeling like I have never really 'fit'. Most people would never even think that I have these awful feelings but the truth of the matter is that I have struggled with them all of my life. The little voices in my head that tell me I am not good enough, nobody cares, I don't do anything right...need I even go on? Sure, I can blame all of this on the awful things I experienced as a kid (school bullying) and I do believe that is a big part of my "why" but as an adult I have learned a lot that has helped me to rise above my feelings of unworthiness. I applaud anyone who has accepted this challenge. Rainbow, you are a beautiful person and I admire the fact that you have taken this head on. Don't wither away, come out in the light and grow. I think it is incredible when people take a step of faith and begin sharing where they have come from, where they are at and where they are headed. You are headed in the right direction. I am sure most of us know by now in our adult lives that people struggle with a lot of things. I enjoy honesty and appreciate real hearts, exposed for all to see and unafraid of vulnerability. This is when we learn to trust, grow as people and gain true friendships that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, sometimes we find out who are not true friends when we bare our hearts. Okay, so I feel like I just wrote a book but I feel better. Anyone else? At Your Wicks End? http://www.oceansidescents.com/ http://www.mysplashpro.com/scentme2heaven/
I Don't Know How We Do It ALL!
Posted 9/19/2006 7:47:04 PM Wow! I can get exhausted just thinking about all the things I do as a mom. As women we have so much responsibility with taking care of our husbands, children and households. We really do make things 'happen' in our homes and have been given a special gift to be able to get it all done. I don't believe it was an accident that we are multi-tasked oriented as opposed to our male companions that seem to focus better by completing one task at a time. I am so glad I don't have to go to work 40 hours a work, travel at least 1hr a day and come home to a hungry family that has some sort of sports event within moments of my arrival. Even now, while I have several hours 'by myself' with my 1 year old son, I find myself getting behind in my daily routine. However, at least I can rise when I want to and am not enslaved to the alarm clock and a 9-5 schedule. That is freedom all by itself. I have to remind myself of that. Sure, working at home lends itself to other situations that I wouldn't experience if I was working away from my home. But, I have learned to juggle both effectively over time and I am glad I can work from home.
Internet Marketing
Posted 9/18/2006 4:40:13 PM For the last 4 months or so I have been reviewing many different articles online about marketing my home business. I thought I knew a lot about advertising and the internet but have recently discovered there is so much more for me to learn. The first step was to create my personal website. I am really excited about how it looks. I built this on BlueVoda and didn't have to know any html coding. . If you are interested you can visit my resouce page at www.oceansidescents.com/resouces.html This is one business tool I will tell everyone about. I have discovered that there are a lot of people out there that promote scams and then there are the legitimate sites. Research and investigation is key but this can be time consuming. I just continue to keep my eyes on the prize and remind myself that building a successful business does not happen over night. Diligence and perseverance will help me rise to the top. I won't pretend that I am getting rich. But, I will say that I have mad a lot of progress and my business is growing. That is what is important. A strong foundation is essential. Just Settling Down
Posted 8/21/2006 12:10:58 AM It's 10:00 pm, the kids are still up and I just want to escape in my own world for a short while. I live at a resort and have for 10 years. My husband and I manage this place for his parents and it can be a lot of fun sometimes. We have the freedom to come and go as we please and I truly enjoy that. I don't know that I could ever work for a regular job again. I enjoy being my own boss, setting my own schedule and just lounging in my PJ's if I feel like it. We are going to be building our home on the beach come this spring. We have never owned our own home before and my husband is going to build it. It is still in the design phases at this point. We have lived right here by the resort office for 10 years (far toooooo long) and deserve a break. This home will be magnificent! It will be great for the kids since they have been in one bedroom since they can remember. All 3 girls in one room. Oh well, it could be worse but I sure am glad I am good at organizing. The kids are all playing in the conference room. They made a really cool tent with just about every sheet and blanket in our home. I mean, EVERY blanket. Ugh...but it brings back wonderful childhood memories and I am glad I get to see them having so much fun. 'Til next time, Sabrina At your wicks end? http://www.oceansidescents.com/ http://www.mysplashpro.com/scentme2heaven/
Sunday Mornin'
Posted 8/20/2006 12:26:31 PM Today is a new day. The kids are off at church and I am sitting at my computer chowing down a polish dog. Quick and easy meal for the morning. Hey, at least I am eating. My son is sleeping and I have to wake him in about 2 minutes. I have nursery duty at church this a.m. and I get to hang with all the babies. Alicia spent the night last night and she always adds a lot of zing to our evening. She is almost like a daughter to our family and spends almost every weekend with us. It is nice to live in a small community and have good friends. We love it here and the kids don't even know how awesome they have it. We do have to escape to the city once in a while though to just get off the peninsula. This is kind of a land all by itself. You'd have to live here to know what I mean by that.
