I was a very diligent worker this weekend and this is what I have to show for my efforts:I finished sewing the last 20 blocks (Im taking 20 points for them) and then assembled those blocks into groups of 12. It took forever but at no point did I feel like giving up.Tonight Ill sew the four big pieces together and start cutting fabric for the borders. Actually, Im not sure I have enough fabric for that so Ill at least determine if a trip to the store is necessary. Id also like to hand quilt this because my machine has a tendency to ruin things at the very end of a project. That and I cannot, for the life of me, get my machine to make consistent stitches when there are bulky seams to sew over. If I really do end up hand quilting, I need to buy some sort of frame/hoop. Ill be stitching all straight lines and Im pretty fast at hand sewing so hopefully it wont take me forever. I have until Thanksgiving to finish. Those who are in the know: does this sound like an impossible goal?Total points (since 6/1/07): 481

I just found out about this website:http://www.dailylit.comYou can get installments of books emailed to you. This is awesome in so many ways. Check it out...lots of free books and you can set up your installments (frequency, length, etc.) just how you like them. I know...reading real books is way more fun but now I can read books at work discreetly. I'm always looking for ways to get more reading packed into each day and this seems like a good way to do it.Speaking of books, I've created an ambitious to-do list for this weekend. It might not seem ambitions but everything on the list is something I do not actually want to do.1)Finish reading Snow Crash. I've been reading this forever and still have 200 pages left. I really need to finish it so I can read something more my style. 2)Finish hand warmers for work. I have seven pairs to go, most of which are nearly completed. I have one pair that I'll have to start from scratch.3)Work on the quilt for my grandma. I have 20 blocks left to assemble. I'd like to finish those up and then start sewing the blocks to each other. I really need to spend as much time as possible on this this weekend. If I can get the top fully assembled, the quilting can wait until after Halloween. I need to get the top done so I can have guilt-free Halloween crafting time over the next couple weeks.4)Continue organizing my house. It seems that no matter how much time I spend doing this, it never gets any better. _goodmanbrown_ and I are also going to dinner at my parent's house tomorrow and out to a movie. I want to go apple picking but that will probably have to wait until next weekend.

I feel like I'm in an episode of The Office. I, along with two other office mates, spent the last two days assembling this:for our annual "Autumn Festival". In case you can't tell, that's a giant pumpkin stomping on buildings and searching for efficient space for state employees. It was both the biggest waste of time and the best two days of my work life. Sad? Most definitely. Hilarious? Not really.
