While doing research for one of my group projects, I stumbled upon this gem (circa 1994):"YOU GET A GUN, A BADGE, A COOL UNIFORM, AND THE AUTHORITY to protect Mother Earth when you become a Special Agent of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Criminal Investigation Division. This is no joke. "Environmental crime is now regarded as the 'crime of the 90s,'" says the EPA, and the mission of EPA cops "is as critical as any in government-guarding human health and the environment against uncontrolled pollution." EPA cops are fully authorized federal law enforcement officers, which means they can work undercover, make arrests, and, yes, even shoot suspected environmental criminals. Budding agents must be U.S. citizens, between 21 and 37 years old, in excellent physical condition, and must undergo a thorough background investigation and medical evaluation. If you're really gung-ho about the environment, call the EPAs Criminal Investigation Division at (202) 260-9377."
