So, this weekend I went and had dinner and saw Da Vinci Code with my friend Charlene. I mentioned to her that after 2 years of trying (and failing) at Weight Watchers and various other diets, I had started Meridia and it has been working well. Her comment was, that great and once I go off the Meridia I'll gain all the weight back. Naruto quizzie stolen from Nicole :D. . While that is one of my fears, her saying out loud in a blunt manner doesn't help any morale I was building..

Well, my current boss (who took over for my last boss, an just hired the guy that replaced the position he left open) just announced he's leaving the Company. In 2 weeks. I told him as long as he was through the FPR submittal on the 26th we were ok. But Damned if he leaves before then.

I went to the doctor yesterday to discuss my weight. I'm not ready for a surgical option yet, as I think it's a bit radical and I'd personally prefer to do it with diet and excercise. So I talked to my doctor and we decided to try Meridan. Since the beginning of the year I've gained 25 lbs which has started to cause a bunch of other health concerns (for those of you who may not have met me...I'm very overweight not just sorta). While we were discussing my weight loss options I mentioned that at times I think the weight gain is compounded by the fact that I feel I had some mild ADD. He mentioned that I could take a test if he wanted to test for ADD. So off I went. Reading this test and ranking my behavior basically read like a "this is your life" book.So I finished the test and gave it back to the doctor. About 3 mins later he came out and asked me to go back to his office (he was holding samples of Strattera) His comments were my results were very indicative of ADD and that because of the meridian, I couldn't go on Adderal or Ritalin. Let me say here, i'm not a fan of medication. AT. ALL. gekko can vouch I'm the "pop a couple of ibuprofin and move on with it" type. Taking pills everyday will be almost impossible for me. Unless I obsess about it I will forget to take my pills.I also feel the last 2 years in Dallas have not helped me. I grew up in a behaviorally strict household. I just was not to behave in certain matters, or else. Many of the coping mechantisms and tricks I use aren't working anymore. So there it is. Since I can only be on meridian for 6 months, at the end of taht I'm going to see a specialist and really make sure this ADD diagnosis is correct, and if so what's the best way to long term handle it as an adult.Today, I drove the Demorcatic National Party Canidiate for District 32 around door to door campaigning. His name is Will Pryor (www.pryor06.com) and it was interesting. Yeah, after 15 years I'm finally off the fence and declaring a party.
