Religion: Expertise Not a Necessity
Posted 9/13/2008 1:18:05 AM Reading through an article the other day in the Chronicle Journal, it wasn't long before the author's religious ignorance was evident. Speaking of Palin and the upcoming U.S. election, he stated that Palin said the war in Iraq was "a task from God". The problem is, Palin wasn't saying the war itself is a task from God. What she did say was that we have to be praying that the national leaders will be sending their troops on a task that is from God, and that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan. I don't know about catholic Christians, but I do know that it is the general belief of evangelicals that God will take the good and bad, and work all things out for His glory. That though certain things may not necessarily be His will, they are a part of His sovereign plan. As an evangelical myself, I understood Palin's statement to mean that God is sending the troops on a task that may or may not be directly related to the actual war itself. Perhaps it is God's will that a believer who happens to be a soldier will spread the Gospel, or someone might even be saved because God has used the circumstances for His glory. The problem is, in order to understand what Palin meant by this, one needs to get aquainted with evangelical theology. It's no different assuming the sermon by Palin's pastor in 2004, in which he made a statement about John Kerry, meant that he believes "people who vote for Democrats won't get into heaven". Of course, this is not what he said, and anyone familiar with evangelical theology will know that what he was saying was that if anyone voted Democrat, he would question whether or not they have actually been saved. It's hard to imagine a true born again Christian, filled with the Holy Spirit, supporting the removal of faith from the public sector, the objection to examining the creation account of origins, or even ID, beside particles-to-man evolution, a party that supports criminalizing the recital of specific passages from the Bible, and the murder of millions of unborn babies every year. The point is that evangelicals don't believe in salvation by works. You can't be saved by who you vote for, and you can't lose your salvation because of who you vote for. You are saved or not saved on the bases of Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone. Either you are covered by His atoning blood or you are not. But, according to the Bible, it is expected that people who are covered by His blood will show it in all aspects of their lives, including who they vote for. We are called to be the salt and light of the earth. As Christ said, "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men". If a Christian is voting Democrat, he really should examine his values and whether or not he is in the faith. The information they are passing off as fact are nothing but misunderstandings that they could have avoided had they have relied on religious experts rather than people who have very little or no understanding of theological or religious matters. This being said, it's frightening that religious experts are being fired in America, according to Lee Strobel, who worked at Chicago's Daily Herald for 14 years before becoming a Christian. It would be nice to know what qualifications their replacements have, if any. Of course, they have none and they have proven this already. And does it bother them that the truth is being sacrificed here? Not at all. Why should it? They want a totalitarian government and propagating falsehood through the mass media is their means for accomplishing that.
Obama Campaign Fear Mongering
Posted 9/13/2008 1:15:48 AM Obama Campaign Fear Mongering Bear Nichols: New Fear-Mongering Lies in the Obama Ad on Abortion. Obama has released a new radio ad attacking McCain's positions on abortion, labeling them as extremist. Here are some quotes on the ad's content from the Political Punch: "As a nurse practitioner with Planned Parenthood," says a woman's voice, "I know abortion is one of most difficult decisions a woman will ever make. I'm Val Baron. Let me tell you - if Roe v Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That's why this election is so important. John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose. That's what women need to understand. That's how high the stakes are." "As president, John McCain will make abortion illegal," says an announcer. "McCain says quote, 'I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned.' And listen to McCain's answer on Meet the Press." "A constitutional amendment to ban all abortions," says the late great Tim Russert. "You're for that?" "Yes, sir," says McCain. "We can't let John McCain take away our right to choose," says Baron. "We can't let him take us back." First, this is a despicable ad, because it is using fear tactics to scare women into voting for Obama. There are several things the ad does not say, and you have to be completely ignorant about the Constitution, the Supreme Court, the Executive Branch, and the Legislative Branch to believe the ad. 1. Roe v. Wade (1973) will not be overturned with the current makeup of the Court. Someone actually has to come off the Court for that to even have a chance, which even then is so minute as to have any fear whatsoever that it will be overturned. And that's the biggest lie of all. It wouldn't even be overturned. It would be returned to the states where the people could decide. 2. As President, John McCain cannot legislate. He cannot "make abortion illegal." A simple understanding of how our government works would debunk this lie. 3. What is wrong with John McCain not supporting Roe v. Wade? Is there no First Amendment? Even leftist law professors agree it was one of the most poorly decided legal decisions the Court ever made. The issue should have been left to the states under the Tenth Amendment. Instead, the Court hijacked the issue, and by judicial fiat trumped the entire history of American law, which until 1973 allowed the individual states to decide. You may think it is good policy to make abortion legal, but that does not mean that the Court should legislate the issue. The choice should have been left to the American people and the legislatures. Roe v. Wade was an anti-choice, anti-states' rights decision, all to appease the radical "choice" crowd. If they were truly pro-choice, they would let the states decide these important decisions. 4. You have to be absolutely ignorant to think that John McCain could somehow pass an abortion ban amendment. First, the President of the United States cannot pass an amendment, nor does he or she have any role in the decision: From the institution in charge of ratification process, the Government Archives: "Since the President does not have a constitutional role in the amendment process, the joint resolution does not go to the White House for signature or approval." How absolutely ignorant is an ad that claims he does have a role? 5. How likely do you think it would be that the two houses would propose and amendment when they will be Democrat controlled? Even if they were not Democrat controlled, you'd still need 2/3 of the House and Senate to propose the amendment: Government Archives: "The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures." Do you think that such an amendment proposal could get through the House and Senate? Not a chance. And even if it does, it has to be approved by 38 of the 50 states, which is impossible as well. The Supreme Court liberal Justices knew that it would be impossible to pass a Constitutional amendment banning abortion, so they decided to amend the Constitution on their own. Five people in all of America circumvented states' rights and the Constitution to declare that there is no choice in the abortion issue. Who even needs the amendment process when you have a Supreme Court in your pockets? Instead of Big Oil, the Left has Big Court. So, to suggest that McCain can somehow overturn Roe v. Wade is the pinnacle of ignorance. Then again, the Left supports the Messiah, Barack America, who can change the world. Maybe that is why they believe the President can do more than he's Constitutionally allowed. Maybe they want to change that, too, to institute their socialist agenda.
Sex Selective Abortions: Sex Selective Abortions In The U.S.
Posted 8/13/2008 1:34:57 AM Where are all the feminists? Life Site News Sex-Selective Abortions Happening on Wide Scale in United States: Population Research Institute FRONT ROYAL, VA, July 24, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute (PRI), says that America has a hidden problem of sex discrimination, but a form of discrimination that feminists refuse to address. In PRI's latest YouTube video, Mosher decries the practice, common in East and South Asian countries, of sex-selective abortion. According to the United Nations, this practice has already claimed the lives of over 100 million girls worldwide. The video goes on to cite a recent study published by the National Academy of Sciences, saying that many American groups, particularly those of Asian descent, have the same skewed birthrates as found in their country of origin. Many of the sexist customs and practices that have led to these skewed birthrates are being imported into the United States. In China, India, and other Asian countries, there is a strong preference for boys, Mosher says. This combination of a preference for boys and modern technology - the ultrasound machine - has proven deadly for millions of baby girls. The video goes on to detail exactly how serious the problem is, and how it can only be explained by the selective abortion of baby girls. "Where are the feminists when you need them?" asks Mosher. According to Mosher, the widespread slaughter of unborn girls has failed to raise concerns in the feminist community. American feminists, he alleges, are so wedded to abortion-on-demand that they are unwilling to oppose any abortion, however egregious. This is true, he says, even when the practice involves the killing of hundreds of millions of girls for the sole reason that they are girls. "I challenge the National Organization of Women," says Mosher, "and other feminist groups, to join us in the battle to ban this terrible form of sex discrimination that is killing so many unborn baby girls. Their continued silence only facilitates the killing." PRIs new video is available at http://www.youtube.com/colinpri1, or on PRIs web site: http://www.pop.org.
Safe Sex: New Pamphlet on
Posted 8/13/2008 1:04:06 AM Lifesite News New Pamphlet Gives College Women the Truth about "Safe Sex" By Kathleen Gilbert ![]() August 11, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a culture where cold, hard science is king, one doctor is questioning whether the theory of "safe sex" can measure up. In her pamphlet "Sense and Sexuality: The College Girl's Guide to Real Protection in a Hooked-up World," to be released later this month, Miriam Grossman, M.D., uses her medical training and 10 years' experience as a staff psychiatrist at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to expose the physical and mental dangers of the uninhibited sexual climate that dominates the modern college campus. In the introduction, Grossman describes the tragic and recurring scene in her campus office: a young woman, broken and in crisis, describes the mistakes that have poisoned her dreams. Dr. Grossman laments: "The worst part? Many times the crisis was 100 percent preventable. If only I'd known... she says, if only someone had told me." These are the words, says Dr. Grossman, that young women should never have to say. Hers is not a pamphlet for "safer sex," but for giving girls the information they need: the "critical health information" that few others will tell them about. One of the most striking features of this pamphlet is how Dr. Grossman draws her arguments from her authoritative medical perspective. Well-documented studies and statistics stand behind her objections to common misconceptions. As one example, Grossman argues that anal intercourse does not, as is sometimes erroneously believed, protect from STDs: rather, it increases the risk of HIV to 20 times that of vaginal intercourse. She also quotes a study that claims 91% of girls on one campus have feelings of regret after a hook-up - a fact she simply lets stand on its own. In this pamphlet there are no arguments from moral standards; in fact, there is little argumenation at all, only a wealth of scientific fact that inevitably calls into question the safety of the "hook-up culture" at college campuses. The pamphlet, stylishly tinted pink and red, appeals directly to college-age women in personal, but hard-line terms. It discusses in familiar words the effects of oxytocin, a hormone released by intimate behavior, on one's ability to make clear choices and on the long term consequences of the choices one makes: "Because of it [oxytocin], you could develop feelings for a guy whose last intention is to bond with you. You might think of him all day, but he can't remember your name." Ultimately, Dr. Grossman's theme is crystal clear: be informed. If you do not take the time to ask right questions, you will be vulnerable to the wrong answers. As she writes in her conclusion: "Learn about the distinct sensitivities of being female - go beyond the brief information provided here - and use that knowledge to inform your decisions." Dr. Miriam Grossman is a board-certified psychiatrist and the once-anonymous author of Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness Endangers Every Student. She is a Senior Fellow at the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, a non-profit organization that promotes conservative women in leadership roles. preview of Dr. Grossman's pamphlet: http://www.cblpi.org/senseandsexuality/index.cfm Dr. Grossman's website: http://www.miriamgrossmanmd.com Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute's website: http://www.cblpi.org For information on Dr. Grossman's book Unprotected, see the LifeSiteNews.com article: College Women at Risk for Psychiatric Illness at Politically Correct Campuses http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2006/dec/06121409.html
Sexual Education: Do they have your best interest in mind?

HATING THE HATERS
Posted 7/5/2008 12:09:37 AM Dr. Scott Lively, president of Defend the Family, hit the nail right on the head in his May 2008 AFA Journal article entitled "Is hating the 'haters' hateful?" ![]() "Homosexuals call me names like bigot and homophobe, condemn my religion, mock my rational conclusions about social issues, impugn my motives, display intense hostility toward my actions and curse my very existence, all under the justification that I'm a hater. But if I'm a hater for civilly opposing what they do, why aren't they haters for uncivilly opposing what I do? Such a double standard, in the context of a public debate on civil rights, is not just hypocritical, it is surreal." Exactly. And this same double standard is inherent in the entire liberal idealogy. They declare their opinion that it is wrong to impose your own morality on others and then expect everyone else to conform to that view, but do they recognize their hypocrisy? What if I don't personally believe that it is wrong to impose my morality on others? Who are they to tell me what I should and shouldn't do? And not only do they tell me, they want to punish me with the law for not conforming.
Fetal Development: Fetal Tissue Transplants
Posted 7/5/2008 12:00:37 AM I put a question out there to get some idea of where people are standing on the issue of fetal tissue transplantations and harvesting fetal organs. Not suprizingly, the pro-aborts were quick to jump on it lest the public should perceive the fetus as an actual human being with an actual body that consists of actual organs. I do wonder how these people can pry their deluded idealogy into our laws and court systems when the basic facts can be found anywhere in our country, from the maternity clinics and doctor's offices to the countless unbiased pregnancy websites that are designed for the education of normal and balanced women (aka other women with fetus fetishes), who just want the facts about their unborn children because it's a delight to learn about their developing child. But again, this is how the ignorant and/or the lying pro-aborts responded: "No - if they are aborted then their organs wouldn't be fully grown." "sure.. but they don't have fully developed organs." "95% of all abortions happen LONG before the fetus develops any of those organs." "Since that isn't done why even consider it. If you have a real objection to abortion being legal I'm willing to listen. But when people base their argument on lies and fear mongering they lose all credibility." "Your question is absurd and you have no credibility." "Transplantation on what? Other foetuses? What else would you transplant such a tiny arm on?!? That and you can't transplant an arm... But no, no moral problem with it" "And do what with them you can't use them, they're not even matured enough to be used in other babies. Seriously they have other books to read besides the bible. " "considering that abortion is NOT ok when those things are fully formed, it means you're talking about limbs and organs that are NOT fully functional and probably dead so you just said something very stupid." "Its not about "ok" or "not ok", its about "not viable". "I think up to a point it is just a bundle of cells and abortion is not wrong. After that point it is a life and would be wrong to kill the child. But when the child gets to that point, the mother has usually decided to keep the baby anyway. Abortion at this point is indeed murder. Even pro-choice would agree. It is also illegal beyond this point. I have just realised, an aborted bundle of cells would not have organs etc formed enough to donate. Methinks you are making shizz up now." "are you batty?.... get it RIGHT, fer pete's sake.... the only thing anyone EVER thought about 'harvesting' from an aborted fetus was STEM CELLS.... sheesh......and no, a lot " "o you come from the future? i've yet to see any of those things transplanted. and if i lost my leg i don't think a transplanted one from foetus would match my other leg. and buying one shoe and one knitted bootee is impractical." "umm.... children don't receive transplants until physical maturity, so that scenario could never happen." "Yes. But, babies aren't aborted at the stage where their organs would be viable for transplantation." So...just in case anyone else out there has some absurd idea that the unborn is a "wod of tissue" or "clump of cells" that aren't fashioned the same as the way the "clumps of cells" are fashioned to make born people's bodies, I'll clue you in. Pregnancy.org: ![]() AT WEEK FIVE the heart begins to beat. (One might then reasonably infer there is actually a heart there) The infant's lungs start to appear, along with her brain. (They use the word infant. I'm not just throwing it in there.) Arm and leg buds appear AT WEEK SIX The arms and legs continue to develop Lenses of the eyes appear Nostrils are formed Intestines grow Pancreas AT WEEK SEVEN Elbows form Fingers start to develop Feet start to appear with tiny notches for the toes Ears eyes and nose start to appear Teeth begin to develop under the gums AT WEEK EIGHT Cartilage and bones begin to form The basic structure of the eye is well underway The tongue begins to develop AT WEEK NINE Most joints are formed now Fingerprints are already evident in the skin AT WEEK TEN The most critical part of your infant's development is complete. baby's head is now about half its length Eyelids fuse shut and irises begin to develop WEEK ELEVEN Nearly all structures and organs are formed Fingers and toes have separated Hair and nails begin to grow The genitals begin to take on the proper gender characteristics Amniotic fluid begins to accumulate as the kidneys begin to function The muscles in the intestinal walls begin to practice contractions that digest food. WEEK TWELVE Vocal cords begin to form Ears shift to their normal place on the side of the head The pancreas begins to produce insulin And when do most abortions take place? "In 2000, for women whose weeks of gestation at the time of abortion were adequately reported, 57% of reported legal induced abortions were known to have been obtained at <8 weeks of gestation, and 87% at <13 weeks (Table 6). Overall, 23% of abortions were known to have been performed at <6 weeks of gestation, 18% at 7 weeks, and 17% at 8 weeks (Table 7). Few reported abortions occurred after 15 weeks of gestation; 4.3% were at 16--20 weeks, and 1.4% were at >21 weeks." http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml... Just for the record, I am not saying they are taking intact organs and transplanting them into other humans, but they are shipping intact fetal organs to medical research facilities where they then proceed to extract what they want out of the organ. It really does baffle the mind. Science says the fetus exists. The entire medical community admits that the fetus exists. Our own eyes prove to us that fetus exists. But we must all shut-up for fear of bursting some pro-abort's bubble of delusion and wishful thinking. Anything that rains on their parade of fantasy must be a lie.

Personal Journey: My body. My choice?
Posted 5/2/2008 11:49:43 PM I already had five living kids and managed to stay in shape sometimes even to the degree that I was sacrificing my child's right to the health benefits of his mother's milk just so that I could lose weight. It was pretty clear that in my eyes my physical appearance was more important than my child's health and development. It was all about me. "And why should I have to keep a few extra pounds on my own body just so my child could get the best start? Formula will suffice. I have to take care of me or nobody else will." And there were the stems I started to see of my own seeds of selfishness that sprung up like weeds without me even seeing them for what they were. The same seed of selfishness that bears the fruit of abortion. After managing to stay in shape this many times, I delivered my sixth child. This time however, I fought with my preference to be fit and chose instead to give my baby the best nourishment I had to offer just as any mother would- or at least should. I put off losing the weight right away and just waited anxiously for the day that I could get the extra pounds off but after a year and before my son had stopped nursing, I found myself pregnant again. I hadn't lost the weight from my previous pregnancy, I whined. How much harder will it be to lose the weight now after accumulating even more weight from another pregnancy? And so I began my pregnancy by perceiving my unborn child to be some thing that was preventing me from doing what I wanted to do. Not what I needed to do, but just what I wanted to do. What wisdom we find in the word of God which states, "You lust and do not have; so you commit murder."(James 4:2) I wouldn't have an abortion, not because I didn't want to, but because I knew it was wrong. But I still had the seed of murder in me and that meant that I was a murderer at heart. The first four months of my unborn child's life I never stopped seeing him through the bitter lenses of what I was missing and so I never appreciated him or valued him. I never talked to him or told him I loved him. I had no affection for him. All I could think about was "the damage" he was doing to my body. Of course, as a Christian, God was not going to let me go on like this because He wants to conform me to the image of His Son, and so in order to teach me a valuable lesson, He took drastic measures. Suddenly, this "thing" that I had been hostile towards every moment from the time I was aware of his existence, was lifeless in my hands and I wanted nothing more at that moment than to carry him within me again where he could be safe and alive, get his nourishment, grow and mature. But I couldn't bring him back to life, and I couldn't take back the wishes I had made over and over again within my heart. I couldn't tell him I loved him now and the only thing I had left is a memory that I would try to hang on to. The hardest thing I have ever had to do was let him go but even as death was transforming his little body, suddenly this tiny baby became the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. A hidden treasure that I had let slip away with no thought or regard for the gift I had been given. I had my freedom back. I had the freedom now to go an lose all the weight I wanted to but it didn't matter now. With nothing tangible to hold against my lonely breast, I ached deeper and deeper for the child I didn't want. Did he know I didn't want him? Could he feel the rejection? Was he hurting and lonely? Did he know he was missing something? Does he know I love him now? Although being pregnant again has not brought him back or taken away the pain, I have gone through the last eight months appreciating every step this baby has made in development, and I have this greater sense of awareness of the reality of this little life inside of me than I could have ever imagined. Every kick. Every hiccup. I know this child already in a way that I have never known anyone before...and I don't even know the sex and have never seen him/her. I also have a new sense of value as a woman. I have the ability to do something so incredible and profound as sustaining another person's life with my body. A body that I have come to realize was not created to be a cheap pastime for men, or a slave of our overly sensualized and sexualized culture, but a body that was designed to carry, nurture, and nourish human life. There are no abs of steel, barbie doll thighs, or oversized teenaged breasts that can compare to that. Truly, the beauty of a woman is not how well she conforms to the playboy centerfold image but rather the inner beauty of selflessness radiates through her as she makes herself a tool to nurture and cradle other human beings in love. By her stretch marks you see that she has used every tool available to her, stretching herself as far as she can be stretched, for the well being of others. By her matured breasts you see that she has given up her youthful lusts and selfish desires to nourish others instead. By her varicose veins you see that she carried the weight of others when they were still too fragile or weak to carry themselves. And the few extra pounds is nothing but an outward manifestation of an inward truth. That being the growth of her maturity, humbleness, honor, self-respect and holiness. This woman is the woman who ought to be praised and respected in our society, yet this is the woman who is treated the poorest. These are the virtues we should be cultivating and protecting, yet these are the things that are attacked. A woman has more protection from the government killing her offspring than she does protecting her offspring. The woman who defends her own rights are esteemed higher than the woman who defends the rights of others. She has sacrificed everything she has, even her own body, for the best of others. She has sustained, nurtured, protected, born the weight of, and through agony and tears delivered another human being who without her could not deliver himself. This is why Christians must be pro-life. We are called Christians because we "take up our cross daily" and follow Christ, Who not only exchanged His wealth, reputation and power for our misery (Matthew 4:9;Philippians 2:7-8), but gave over His own body to be scarred, bruised, beaten, tattered and torn and then through agony and tears He delivered us, who without Him, could not have delivered ourselves. We defend the killing of babies so long as they're not viable, but Christ gave up His own life to deliver all of us who are "unviable" outside of Him. The very act of bearing children and and allowing God to use your body for the purpose of bringing life into the world is more Christ-like than anything else. There was a reason why God created us to begin our lives this way. It's nothing but a beautiful and glorious reflection of the new birth we have through Christ Jesus, Who did not begin to love us after we were delivered, but delivered us because He first loved us. It's no wonder Satan attacks this so ferociously. He's trying to corrupt the picture of salvation that God has given as a light in this darkened world. This is why Satan attacks the value of life before birth. He wants to deceive us into believing God gave His Son as a means to love us, when the true Gospel Message, that so expresses the very nature of our God Who loves unconditionally with agape love, proclaims that God gave His only begotton Son because He so loved the world. He did not deliver us so that He could love us, He loved us in our imperfect, unformed, immature state and and so He delivered us. We, just as the unborn fail to image the glory of a fully developed human, fail to perfectly image the glory of God, and yet He so loves us and gave us the gift of life. Satan attacks this very vivid image of salvation because he wants nothing more than to deter us from really grasping this extraordinary truth- He did not wait for us to be convenient so that He could love us. He didn't wait for us to "grow up" or mature. He didn't wait for it to be less painful on Him either. He loved us UNCONDITIONALLY, and WE LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US. (1 John 4:19) ![]()
Human Being Or Something else?
Posted 3/18/2008 9:28:41 PM I had an ultrasound of my 27 wk baby today. With all of this fuss going around Canada about Bill C-484 (the unborn victims of crime), I just had to wonder, If my baby is not a human being...just what is it? I apologize to all the anti-bill c-484ers for my "ignorance", but just what does this look like to you? ![]() ![]() Now come on. Let's get serious. How can you willingly ignore the plain truth that's right before your own eyes? Do you think that if some creep attacked me and killed my unborn baby I shouldn't expect him to pay to the fullest extent of the law for taking my baby against my will? Where's the choice in that? It's time you just face the facts. A pregnant woman is pregnant because she is with child. Not potential child. This, my friends, is not a potential human being. If someone took my child against my will, they should be punished for doing so. It would be a slap in my face to punish him for an act of violence or assault, but not for taking away my very loved unborn child. Women who miscarry don't grieve a potential child. They grieve their child. I'm very sorry that my government makes laws that are based on wishful thinking rather than biology and obvious facts. I truly hope this time they'll be a little sensible.
My Testimony
Posted 1/16/2008 12:30:43 AM Not too long ago, I was a person who professed to be a Christian, but you would never have known it by my actions. I always looked at Christianity like this: "whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Well, this is true, but not the way I understood it. I understood it to mean that just as long as I believed that there was a Jesus Christ, and that He was the Son of God, whatever that meant, then I would be saved. I continued to live in darkness without even realizing my state. To me, this profession and the nice warm feelings that came with it was all there was to Christianity. I never knew Jesus personally, I just 'believed' that He was there, somewhere off in the distance listening to my prayers, and looking down on me. It was nice, in that it gave me some comfort in knowing that there was more to life than what I seen, and that there was a sovereign Lord with the whole world in His hands, but that was it. He was my God, but I never knew Him. He never spoke to me, and I definitely never knew HIs voice. Was I led by the Spirit as Christians are supposed to be? Only if the Holy Spirit of God led me in to sin. In other words, Not a chance!! I lived in sin, and it was so bad that I never even realized how sinful I was. I justified my actions, and I reasoned my way out of guilt. The fact was that Jesus was my Lord and Savior when it was convenient for me, but not when it counted. He really was never my Lord, or that would make Him my Master, and He never was. I did what I wanted, when I wanted, and how I wanted to do it. I never asked Jesus what He wanted, and I certainly never obeyed Him when He said no. Truth be told, I never was a born again Christian at all. To be born again means to die to yourself, and your sin, and then to be resurrected in new life -obedient to Jesus instead. I never made that choice and there was not a distinctive time in my life when I could pinpoint making that decision and declaring that out loud. I think I got caught in this game of pseudo-christianity, meaning that I associated myself with the term, but it wasn't who I was. It didn't define me, as if it had everyone would have known it by watching me. This is wrong! You are not a Chrisitan because of what you believe, but you are a Chrisitan because of Who you obey. "For even the demons believe that I am, and tremble." I continued to live the way I wanted, and by my own reasoning, and so there was never any progress. I wasn't maturing as a Christian as Paul tells us that Christians do, rather I was backsliding. I was getting worse instead of getting better. I was also depressed, and couldn't find real meaning in my life. I was sick and tired of my worth being dependant on the people or circumstances around me. I kept hurting others and living in anger, and then I'd hurt myself. I never seen the damage that I wrought in other people, and I never appreciated the extent of the damage that I wrought in myself by my anger and temper. Worse, I never knew a way out. I felt trapped. I sought out therapy, and counselling, hoping to change my destructive ways, but to no avail. When I finally realized that it was hopeless, and that I could never change myself I was ready to give up. I just couldn't be what I was expected to be. I couldn't measure up and I was sick and tired of putting on a front to others. It didn;t really matter what other people thought of me anymore, as I was the one who had to live with myself. Once I got to this place, there was only two places to go from there. Either I was going to give up, count myself worthy of death, and put myself out of my misery, or I was going to find out why, if there really was a God out there, why He wasn't helping me as He promised He would. Where was this God anyway?? Had He given up on me? I ended up reading a book, and studying the book of John, and then after praying the sinners prayer. "Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe that you are the Son of God, that You took my place on that cross, and that You were risen from the dead. I turn from my sin now and turn to You. Please forgive me for my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Savior. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. After praying this prayer, I read the Bible because I wanted to know about this Lord more. The more I read, the more in love with Him I fell. My guilt and shame was gone, and now I had real hope. Not hope that there was a God somewhere out there who was listening to my prayers, but that there was a real and living God in my heart, changing me and filling me with His Spirit. He was right there, teaching me and directing me. The more I read the Bible, and prayed, the more my eyes were opened to things that I had never even seen. The more hope I had in changing my ways. The more I loved to see the truth about myself so I could repent and be changed. It became more of a blessing to have God point out my faults then a curse because I then knew that I had been sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will not leave you in your filth, He causes you to grow. Now, I don't try to reason my way out of the conviction of sin, instead I embrace it and repent of it. I don't want anything between Jesus and I. I know that it was these sins that were nailed with Him on that cross, and I don't want anything to do with it now. There is no explaining what Jesus has done for me in giving me new sight and a new heart, but my nature is changing more every day. He takes away my anger and replaces it with compassion. He changes my desires to be His desires. I know that He will stick with me until I am perfected. I am not depressed anymore either because there is no void left in my life. It wouldn't matter where I am, who I was with, if anybody at all, or what circumstances I was under. As long as I have Jesus, I have all the blessings in the world. I am rich. He has filled up every space in my heart, and truly He has given me rest for my soul. I no longer need to seek approval of men, or try to to find things to fill that space because He is there now. He is my heavenly bread, and Rivers of Life. I am no longer hungry or thirsty. My real hunger is for the Word of God. There are no therapists, counsellors, self-help books, meditations, etc., that could compare to this Great Counsellor. He has healed every hurt, and every scar, and every wound, and He has wrapped me up in Love and Life and Truth. I am now blessed to be in the world, but not of it. The world may seem fun, but it will only lead you to pain and suffering. It will never give you rest and it will never be reliable. It will never love you the way that Jesus loves, because Jesus doesn't love, He is Love. The world knows not how to love, and those of the world know not how to love. They only know what 'feels' like love, or what seems like love. I truly hope and pray that all my beloved family and friends will submit themselves to Jesus and repent. I pray with all of my heart that they will all trust in Jesus and not the ways of the world. I beg you all, please, if you hear the voice of Jesus don't turn Him away. Only He can heal you. Only He can truly love you the way you were made to be loved. Only He can give you real purpose. Only He can fill that space that is now filled with sex, food, alcohol, drugs, ect. You are looking for something, why fill it with things that wear off? People, and things all wear off. Jesus lasts forever and only gets better the more time you spend with Him. Don't let your sin drag you to hell, but instead forsake it and find life! With all my heart, and all my prayers I plead with you all.
THE WORM INFESTED APPLE
Posted 1/16/2008 12:23:38 AM Why does man sin? A little girl picked up a bid red apple and began to polish that beautiful apple on the side of her pant leg. Just as she held it up to take a big bite she was halted with a rude awakening. A big fat ugly worm hole! She quickly ran to her mother with her worm contaminated apple. "Mommy, mommy!" she cried. "There's a worm in my apple!" Her mother took the apple in her hand and held it up for a closer look. "No, dear."She replied."There was a worm in your apple. Worms don't crawl into apples, they actually come out of apples." "But how do they get in there?" The confused little girl then asked. "They are there before the apple is even an apple." The mother answered. "While it is just a blossom, the worm egg is planted inside. As the apple grows, so does the worm in the egg, until one day it's grown up and finds it's way out of the egg, and then the apple." At first glance, most people approach the worm hole with the same preconceived ideas, that the worm somehow ate his way into the apple. Most of us never realize the truth. Sadly, this is also the same way that most of us Christians approach the problem of our own sin. We never see or understand the true nature of our sin. Somehow we think of ourselves and others much the same way as we look at the apple. We tend to think that our problem is our acts of sin. What we don't see that often is the truth of where that sin originated. Where was it conceived? Sin, like the worm, is conceived in us before we are even born. It then matures and grows with us until it makes its way out, just like the worm does. Our problem then is not our sins themselves, as those are just the symptoms of the bigger problem. Our true problem is that we are sinners. We are inherent sinners right at the very heart of us. We are fused with the sin egg from the moment of our conception, and when left to itself, that sin egg hatches and eats us from the inside out. While the physical evidence of the perpetrator {the act of sin} is damaging, the real deadly problem is not the physical, but the inside of us, where the sin has festered and contaminated us. Why is this sooooo vital? Because even if you do manage to hide your inherent sinful nature, or worse yet, you discipline yourself enough to control your sin, you then have relied on your own righteousness, and have not relied on the righteousness of Christ. You have then made the grace of God vain. God has then poured His wrath out on His dear Son for nothing, since you can do it all by yourself. You have then made God a liar for He said "There is none righteous not one. We are all as filthy rags. We are all gone wayward. We are all unprofitable." If you took all the good things from every man on the face of the earth, and put them all together into one single man, that man would still be as filthy rags compared to the holiness of God. This is the problem. For Jesus said, "Be ye then perfect, even as my Father in heaven is perfect." Unless you've put the righteousness of God on, you are in no means perfect. Unless Jesus is your covering, you are looked on for what you really are- filthy rags. THEY SAY THAT WHEN YOU SEE ONE ROACH, THERE'S ALWAYS THOUSANDS MORE BEHIND THE WALLS WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE THEM. This is exactly what I'm talking about. The act of sin is only the proof that we are sinners. It is not the cause of our sin. You kill that one roach you seen, and there will still be thousands more that you can't see. You haven't solved that problem. What then would happen if somehow you were able to stop that worm from making its way to the surface of the apple, or if you were able to control whether or not the roaches came through the cracks where they could be seen? Well, you would still have an infestation, wouldn't you? It might not bother you, and others might not see it, but it's still there nonetheless. That's the same thing that we do when we 'try to be good,' or 'do our best not to sin.' We prevent the sin from surfacing where it can be seen, but we are still a sinner. We have never had that sin parasite removed from our hearts. We control it, we supress it, and we even manage it, but we have not killed it. We can't kill it unless we ourselves die, but then we are still left with the consequences for the acts of our sin. Those never die! What are we to do then? Well, when you ask Jesus into your heart, He comes in, examines the damage, and begins to combat those roaches. He sets you up in His own house. Basically, your sin infestation will never be completely eradicated until you die{In Christ}, or His Kingdom comes, but until then He gives you His own righteousness that He payed for with His blood. He covers your filthy rags with His own snow-white robes. He becomes your goodness. He moves in your heart, and now when the Father looks on you, He can only see His beloved Son, there in your heart. Jesus starts the long, hard job of cleansing you of these roaches, or worms, from the inside out. He attackes the core of the problem. Now, when the day comes when the Judge{who is also Jesus} looks on you with eyes like fire, which means that He doesn't only see what you've done, but He sees your heart, you will have nothing to be ashamed of because Jesus has already cleansed you, and you had better make sure that this Judge knows who you are! He better have already lived in you. Surely then, with Jesus inside of your heart, and you in Him, He knows you, and you know His voice. You are then one. I ask you all, in the name of Jesus Christ, to allow Jesus to come and start to clean house, and dress you in His righteousness instead of your own attempts to be good and religious. I ask you all to invite him to be your Lord and Savior. I pray that you will all allow Christ to become your rest and righteousness. BEING GOOD DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE SAVED. IS IT A MATTER OF WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE PUT CHRIST ON OR NOT. ARE YOU RELYING ON YOUR OWN GOOD WORKS, OR HAVE YOU ALLOWED JESUS TO LIVE IN YOUR HEART? DO YOU REALIZE AND APPRECIATE THAT YOU ARE A SINNER? BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY............DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU NEED JESUS? YOU COULD ACT LIKE A SAINT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, BUT THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS IS WHETHER OR NOT CHRIST LIVES IN YOU. WHAT WILL THE FATHER SEE WHEN HE LOOKS AT YOU, YOURSELF OR JESUS? "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies"{Matt.15:19} "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God"{Matt.5:8} "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things"{Matt.12:35} "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;..."{Eph.3:17} "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of hte joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do"{Heb.4:12,13} "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands,ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded"{James 4:8} "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price"{1 Pet.3:4} |
