Guess it's because we had a 5.1 here that I felt 300 miles away. I can only imagine a quake with this much force. An you can't say it'll never happen, but who really knows.

Listening to all the tornado's hitting in the states next to me. I'm only 30 minutes away from the big one that hit in 1974 in Xenia OH. I can remember the next year, when we were still jumpy and they reported one at night. The air was still and nothing was chirping or moving. I was alone with a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I had them go to sleep dressed and with their shoes on, in case. I lived in an apartment and would of had to go outside to get to the basement. I couldn't of carried two sleeping children, so I had an interior bathroom, where I was thinking I'd take them.

Later my son's father showed up and spent the night. Thank goodness or I would of never slept, worrying.

The cyclone, all these big disasters happening at once.

An my anniversary tomorrow, it'll be 7 years. Than of course, Mother's Day Sunday.

Today my husband left for work at 3:30 in the morning an the phone rings a few minutes later. He said, honey Happy Birthday, I forgot to tell you. LOL!

Than my 92 year old mother called, at 10 in the morning, not 3:30, she sang Happy Birthday and Anniversary to you!

Now my sister is a morning person, so when the doorbell rang at 2 in the afternoon, I wondered, who the heck. It was her, she couldn't resist coming over and hand delivering my card, plus she wanted to see my Columbine plant and it is really blooming now. So she checked it out. She said she thinks it seeds, so I have to see when the first flower dies. I read you can separate the plant too, but I'd have to have her do that. She's the landscaper, she has her whole backyard landscaped. She did that earlier, to cut down on the grass mowing, cause she knew she and her husband was getting older and wouldn't be in shape to do that. They have big backyard.

When my husband came home, he brought me flowers.

Tomorrow we are having dinner out. Don't know what we are doing for Mother's Day. I'll see if he wants to make something special. I'm thinking roast, carrots and potatoes. My mouth is watering now. LOL!

Everyone have a Happy Mother's Day!

There was a man who had worked all his life, had saved all of his money, and

was a real 'miser' when it came to his money.

Just before he died, he said to his wife...'When I die, I want you to take

all my money and put it in the casket with me.. I want to take my money to

the afterlife with me.'

And so he got his wife to promise him, with all of her heart, that when he

died, she would put all of the money into the casket with him.

Well, he died. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting

there - dressed in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they

finished the ceremony, and just before the undertakers got ready to close

the casket, the wife said,

'Wait just a moment!'

She had a small meta l box with her; she came over with the box and put it

in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down and they rolled

it away. So her friend said,

'Girl, I know you were not fool enough to put all that money in there with

your husband.'

The loyal wife replied, 'Listen, I'm a Christian; I cannot go back on my

word. I promised him that I was going to put that money into the casket with

him.'

You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!?!?!?'

'I sure did,' said the wife. 'I got it all together, put it into my account,

and wrote him a check.... If he can cash it, then he can spend it.'

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/18/illinois.earthquake/index.html

I live outside Dayton, OH 300 miles from where it originated in Illinois. Read on CNN they felt it 900 miles away in Florida, also felt in Canada.

I was half awake and wondered what that rumbling was, my suncatcher was rattling on the window, but there was no reason for it too. My son came downstairs, saying what the f@#k. He was already up and on the computer. He said his computer started moving back and forth, he said it felt like someone was pushing the walls in and when he got up to come downstairs his TV was still shaking. I turned the TV on, cause we have early morning news on here and nothing was being said. He went outside and came back in. I was beginning to wonder if something blew up. You hear of houses exploding, but no fire sirens. Finally probably 5 minutes after it happened they started saying something cause people were calling in asking what's going on. This news station I turned it to is in my neighborhood. I said they had to feel it, why aren't they saying something. The newscaster said he didn't feel it and I thought even if they did they couldn't of said anything till they were sure what it was.

The last one I remember was back in 1972. We had a storm come through, but the sun was shining, but there were still some dark clouds in the sky. I was at church holding my months old daughter and I didn't feel any shaking but a rumble. Everything got real quiet. The speaker stopped talking, the babies weren't crying, the birds weren't chirping, you could of heard a pin drop. Than after the initial shock, the babies started crying, finished the service and out the door we were. The rumble was like a train. That's normally what they say about a tornado, that thought crossed my son's mind too, but it wasn't storming, that's going to happen tomorrow.

(Everything above is correct but I looked in a journal I kept at that time and it was July 27, 1980 was the last one I remembered. It measured 5 on the Richter scale and originated south of Cinncinnati OHIO)

Lot of coverage on CNN.

I thought no I'm not and hit view my blog and alas I either forgot to sign out yesterday or got knocked off the internet and when I came back on, forgot to go in here and log off.

Well today has been a long day. My husband decided to work today. He had weekends off, but they raised our insurance, so he thought if he worked one Saturday a month, would make up for the difference. My son it's his weekend to work too. He'll be home in an hour. My husband said he'll be late.

So I've done stuff around the house and stuff on the computer. The overcast skies outside sorta match my mood. Even my daughter hasn't called me yet.

I know, you want some cheese with that whine. LOL!

The human body is a machine that is full of wonder. This collection of human body facts will leave you wondering why in the heck we were designed the way we were.

-Scientists say the higher your I.Q., the more you dream.

-The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest is the male sperm.
-You use 200 muscles to take one step.
-The average woman is 5 inches shorter than the average man.
-Your big toes have two bones each while the rest have three.
-A pair of human feet contains 250,000 sweat glands.
-A full bladder is roughly the size of a soft ball.
-The acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve razor blades.
-The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica.
-It takes the food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
-The average human dream lasts 2-3 seconds.
-Men without hair on their chests are more likely to get cirrhosis of the liver than men with hair.
-At the moment of conception, you spent about half an hour as a single cell.
-There is about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
-Your body gives off enough heat in 30 minutes to bring half a gallon of water to a boil.
-The enamel in your teeth is the hardest substance in your body.
-Your teeth start growing 6 months before you are born.
-When you are looking at someone you love, your pupils dilate, and they do the same when you are looking at someone you hate.
-Your thumb is the same length as your nose.

At this very moment I know full well you are putting this last fact to the test...now remove your thumb from your nose and pass this on to the friends you think might be interested in comparing their thumbs to their noses as well

It was sunny, got up in the upper 60's. Was able to go out in short sleeves and be comfortable. So I got my gardening tools out and used the trowel to dig up some dandelions. Than one of my plants gave off a couple new plants so I transferred them to different parts of my garden.

Had the windows open today, it's still 60 at 10 P.M. here going to be a warm night. I live in a brick house that gets the afternoon sun, so it holds the heat. Good in the winter, not in the spring and summer, gets stuffy in here.

Going to clean the ceiling fan tomorrow so I can start using it. That'll make a difference.

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 8oz. to 20oz.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance."

"In each case, it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work/life down. Don’t carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."

"Relax; pick them up later after you’ve rested. Life is short. Enjoy!"

By the one I least expected it from, my sister.

I had talked to my daughter this morning, she's a school teacher and she always calls me on her way to work. I said you know what day it is, you better be careful. She said I have so much I have to complete before school is out for the summer, I don't have time for it. I told her, well your students haven't forgot. She's the one that usually gets me. My son is too wrapped up in trying to straighten his financial mess out from his previous relationship. My husband too wrapped up in work. He drives an 18-wheeler and he just called me and after a few minutes, with him ranting at the wind blowing him around, I told him why don't I let you go and let you fight the wind. He said good ideal.

I got carried away and took you right along with me. LOL! Anyways back to my story. My sister called me this morning and said is your water running? I said let me get up and go check, it was earlier. I got half way to my kitchen and the light came on. I said you didn't. She said got ya! I was thinking on the way to check my water. We don't even live in the same neighborhood, why would she want me to be checking mine.

I'm gullible, what can I say, I take after my mother. LOL!

My husband asked me to make his brownies the other day. Kiddingly I told him I'd fit it into my busy schedule. Well he came home last night and was looking for them. He said well I guess you couldn't fit my brownies into your schedule. I gasped and said no, I totally forgot them.

Today when I woke up, I put them in front of the toaster, where they'd be staring me in the face everytime I went into the kitchen. When I started putting everything into the mixing bowl, my husband must of been psychic, he called me right at that moment. He said what are you doing? I said you'll be glad to know I'm in the process of making your brownies. That will give him something to look forward too. He drives a 18 wheeler and they unloaded him 3 hours late, so he'll be home late tonight and he's driving in rain and fog. The lateness will throw him right into the rush hour traffic, which just makes his day. LOL!

Well down into the basement to get my laundry, than I'm going to put my feet up and watch the news, see if the places that got flooded and haven't receded that much, got it again!

UPS flies right

Just in case you need a laugh:

Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one. Reassurance for those of us who fly routinely in our jobs.

After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS ' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.

S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.

S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.

S: Something tightened in cockpit

P: Dead bugs on windshield.

S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.

S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.

S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.

S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.

S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.

S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.

S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.

S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny. (I love this one!)

S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.

S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.

S: Cat installed .

And the best one for last..................

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

I did walk the mail across the street to the post office. Should of left my walking activity to that, but got on the treadmill. Was going to walk on it at snails pace for 5 minutes. Saw I wouldn't of burned that many calories so stayed on for another 10. Wrong thing to do, ended up taking my 800 mg Motrin. My daughter, she's 36, chewed me out. She said don't you know your insides haven't healed up yet. I didn't tell her of the pain I experienced a couple of hours after I did it. But I know enough now to not go there again, till after I see the doctor in a month.

Just going to have to watch, what I eat. It's taken me 9 months to lose 12 lbs and I hate to see it creep back on. My body doesn't like to give up it's pounds that easily :) But of course, I don't want to mess anything up inside, so I'll cool it and when I'm able too, work it off again.

Woo hoo, woke up 3 lbs lighter.

Took my shower. My husband went out and swept his car off, warmed it up and dug the snow out from around it, so he could get out for work in the morning.

Dishes soaking, don't have a dishwasher, cleaned a few pots and pans and cleaned off the countertop and stove with a Clorox wipe. Swept the floor.
