I'm in love
I swore off men after my past experiences, but I always figured there was that one person out there who was meant for me. The universe has sent him to me and he is the most wonderful man I have ever known. My every dream come true. I never thought I would meet someone like him. Mr. Right does exist! :D
Date tonight
I have a date tonight. I'm nervous. I haven't ever really been on a date like this. My past relationships didn't hook up that way. He's a guy my sister's boyfriend works with. She was joking about hooking me up with him and I saw him at my niece's party and told her to go for it. O talked to him at work the next day and came back with his number. I called it, didn't expect him to call back, but heard from him that night. I hope it goes well. :)

Pegasus

Pegasus sprang from Medusa's neck when she was killed by the hero Perseus. Athena caught and tamed Pegasus, and presented him to the Muses at Mount Parnassus. Later, the magic steed struck the ground on Mount Helicon, and on the spot a spring, sacred to the Muses and believed to be a source for poetic inspiration, began to flow. All longed in vain to catch and tame the creature.

The Chimaera was a fearful monster, breathing fire. The fore part of its body was a compound of the lion and the goat, and the hind part a dragon's. It made great havoc in Lycia, so that the king Iobates sought for some hero to destroy it. At that time there arrived at his court a gallant young warrior, whose name was Bellerophon. He brought letters from Proetus, the son-in-law of Iobates, recommending Bellerophon in the warmest terms as an unconquerable hero, but added at the close a request to his father-in-law to put him to death. The reason was that Proetus was jealous of him, suspecting that his wife Antea looked with too much admiration on the young warrior.

Iobates, on perusing the letters, was puzzled what to do, not willing to violate the claims of hospitality, yet wishing to oblige his son-in-law. A lucky thought occurred to him, to send Bellerophon to combat with the Chimaera. Bellerophon accepted the proposal, but before proceeding to the combat consulted the soothsayer Polyidus, who advised him to procure if possible the horse Pegasus for the conflict. On the advice of the seer, Bellerophon spent a night in the temple of the goddess Athena. He did so, and as he slept Athena came to him and gave him a golden bridle. When he awoke the bridle remained in his hand. Athena also showed him Pegasus drinking at the well of Pirene, and at sight of the bridle, the winged steed came willingly and suffered himself to be taken. Bellerophon mounting, rose with him into the air, and soon found the Chimaera, and gained an easy victory over the monster.

After the conquest of the Chimaera, Bellerophon was exposed to further trials and labors by his unfriendly host, but by the aid of Pegasus he triumphed in them all. Bellerophon was overcome by his own pride, however. When he attempted to fly to the top of Olympus to join the gods, the wise horse threw him, leaving Bellerophon to wander disconsolately about, hated by the gods. Pegasus found shelter in the Olympian stalls and was entrusted by Zeus with bringing him his lightning and thunderbolts.
Cassiopeia the Queen
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Queen Cassiopeia was the beautiful, vain, and arrogant wife of Cepheus, the king of Ethiopia. She made the mistake of bragging to everyone that she was far lovelier and fairer than the Nereids. The Nereids were sea nymphs, 50 goddesses that dwelled in the Mediterranean and helped sailors in danger. They were renowned for their beauty and kindness.

In the world of the Greek gods, nothing could incite anger more than an arrogant, boasting mortal. The Nereids were insulted by Cassiopeia’s claim, but Poseidon, god of the sea, was enraged. He promptly unleashed a giant sea monster called the Kraken to attack the coast of Cepheus’ kingdom.

The horrified King Cepheus consulted an oracle and asked how he could save his kingdom from destruction. The oracle advised Cepheus that Poseidon would not be satisfied until Cepheus and Cassiopeia’s own daughter, Andromeda, were sacrificed to the Kraken. Cepheus was instructed to chain the beautiful, young Andromeda to a rock on the coast, where the monster would come for her.

Cepheus, saddened and full of despair, agreed to sacrifice his daughter to the terrible sea monster if it would save the people in his kingdom. Andromeda was led to the coast, chained, and left alone to face the terrible Kraken.

It was at this moment when Perseus came upon Andromeda on his return from destroying the Gorgon, Medusa—the snake-haired woman whose gaze turned all who looked upon her to stone. When Perseus saw the princess, he at first mistook her for a marble statue, but as he saw the tears in her eyes he became so moved by her plight and her beauty that he instantly fell in love with her. He immediately found Cepheus and Cassiopeia and told them he would save their daughter and destroy the Kraken if they would agree to let him marry Andromeda and take her away. Cepheus and Cassiopeia agreed.

The waters roared, and from the ocean depths arose the terrible Kraken. Perseus stood at Andromeda’s side. When the Kraken’s horrible breath was upon them, he reached into his bag and removed the head of the terrible Medusa. Taking care not to look at it, Perseus raised Medusa’s head to the Kraken and that infamous gaze turned the terrible sea monster to stone. Andromeda was freed, and she and Perseus were happily married.

Poseidon eventually placed Cassiopeia in the heavens. As punishment for her vanity, she is seated on her throne with her head pointing toward the North Star. In this position, she spends half of every day sitting upside down.
What a beautiful day!
I haven't posted in a while, mostly because I post regularly on Xanga, but I thought I'd put a little something here for no reason whatsoever.

Today was a good day. My court hearing was nice and short. I was first on the docket and out of there in just about 10 minutes. I found out afterward that my lawyer had messed up my paperwork, but it ended well because he's going to fix it at no cost to me.

It's a slow time at work, but it will pick up again next week when a few of our people come back from Australia. I'm anxious for Friday, partly because I know this week is going to drag slowly by and partly because I want to go dancing again. I got new boots last week and they made a world of difference for me. Proper footwear is everything when you want to go dancing.

The weather is beautiful, construction is in full swing and I have to go make dinner.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Any Nickname? Jenn, PITA 4

What is your favorite drink? Water, OJ

Tattoos?
Yes, I have 2

Body piercings? Just ears

How much do you love your job? Very much. I was just talking to a co-worker about this. I pass on a better paying job in favor of keeping a job I enjoy.

Ever been on TV? I've been told I was in a commercial when I was real little.

Ever steal any traffic signs? No, but I was really tempted when I saw a duck crossing one, once.

Ever been is a car accident? Yes

Was it your fault? No

Fave salad dressing? I cannot eat salad.

Weirdest thing you eat? None of it's weird to me. I cannot speak for what others would consider weird.
Frustration
I've been so tired. If I'm not working, I'm sleeping. If I'm not sleeping, I'm working. I worked 66 hours last week. The paycheck is going to just barely cover what it needs to. I'll break eventually, under this schedule. At least my jobs are both enjoyable. I lasted two years once, on this schedule, before I broke, but I was under a considerable amount of stress at the time and didn't like my job.

I laid out a budget to get things turned around and caught up again. It's going to be extremely tight, but it's going to work. It makes me angry that it's necessary. I've taken over control of all finances and will keep that control until I get my own place. Paychecks will be going to me now, rather than to the casino. Bills will be paid first. For the next few months, there will be nothing left. Nothing. It's frustrating, so frustrating, to know that we've been struggling for so long while most of her income was gambled away. If she paid her bills first, she'd have hundreds left over each month to save, to have fun with, whatever. For whatever reason, she couldn't do that. She went to the casino first. Whatever she won was put back in until there was nothing left. Bills got further and further behind, until I took a second job to cover things. I didn't know how bad it was until I got access to her bank account - with her permission. I wasn't going to take complete control of finances, I was just going to be sure bills got paid. When I saw that, I was appalled. It was out of control. I have her debit card, I have her checkbook. Until I move out, she won't get either back. The sad part is that, even though she's admitted she has a problem, it doesn't change anything. We went over the budget and she saw how much she'd have left over after we were all caught up. She doesn't see any reason why she can't go play with that extra. I hope she can turn things around for herself.
Death and Taxes
Nothing died, but I prepared my taxes. TurboTax online has a free filing option, so I took my last paystub and started filling in information. I probably won't get my W-2 until mid-February and I was curious if I would owe taxes. 2006 was the first full year that I claimed 2. It was running a bit of a risk that I might have to pay when tax time came, but I need the money in my check more than I need it in a tax return. I went through and entered all my income and deductions and I'm actually going to get a refund! $2 whole dollars!! Good thing I didn't choose to contribute $3 to the presidential fund, or I'd owe money to the IRS. That's one worry off my mind. It doesn't alleviate the other financial stresses I have, but it's one bill that I won't have to pay.

The 2007 US Figure Skating Championships are being held here January 21 though January 28. I really wanted to go and was hoping I would have extra money to get tickets for myself and my sister (so I'd have someone to go with, she really wants to see it too). The extra is definitely not there for those tickets. It creates quite a short-fall when you suddenly have to pay $1000 a month in rent all by yourself. I'm lucky I got a second job. $500 a month extra doesn't just appear out of nowhere. Working as many hours as possible just barely covers it. I worked 60 hours this week alone and when the bills for this month are paid, I only have about $75 left over for groceries the next four weeks. We'll have to make it stretch. Finances are definitely cause for concern right now. It's very stressful, but I'm trying not to let it get to me too much. My health is so sensitive to stress, my body has an instant bad reaction. The goal is to de-stress and not let that reaction become a flare. I want to stay in remission as long as possible and if I take my supplements, eat right and avoid stress, it's possible.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Happy New Year
Things are so.... trying... right now. I don't have much time to write. I made my other blog private because I've got so many things I need to get out lately that I don't want others to read. I think I've made a few "friends" mad because I haven't had time. It bothers me sometimes and I think that's why I don't have a lot of friends. I'm a very private person and I don't share things until I figure them out most of the time. People don't get that. A lot of "friends" have disappeared that way. I'd like to think they'd understand. That's why I like blogging, I think. Especially here. People here don't care if you are quiet for a little while and they are happy when you come back. I feel like I can always come back here. It might be a while, so I wish everyone a wonderously happy new year. Good luck to everyone on whatever resolutions you make.
