Just Stuff: I forgot to say

Diary: Lazy Weekend

It's been a busy couple of weeks. I had to finish up my ceramic work for the end of the semester, and with my husband and son down with colds I'm doing all the cleaning. I still haven't gotten the clutch in my car replaced.

My son has been at a friends for the weekend, BBQ and drinking beer. So it's been rather quiet here. I spent yesterday catching up on my websites, updating, scanning photos, and all that stuff. Then I did some relaxing by watching Cat videos on youtube, you have to check out the Meankittie video about Spartan the cat.

After that I went over to the ABC network site to catch up on Grey's Anatomy episodes. Too bad they don't have Boston Legal Episodes, I fell asleep during the season finale, and the DVD recorder didn't get the show for some reason.

Tonight it's the Meerkat Movie with a tribute to Flower. And of course catching up on previously recorded shows from the VCR & DVDR. Maybe I'll do some cooking for the week, make a pot of soup or something too. I will be planting and repotting herbs and other plants this weekend.

Then I prepare for a new semester of classes, which start on Wednesday. I'm taking Watercolor painting, ceramics, Tai Chi, and an exercise class. Since I can't seem to get off my butt to get in walking around here, I decided to sign up for a class where I have to exercise. I use to walk all the time, then several years back I was hit by clinical depression and couldn't make myself do anything. But getting out of the habit just led to the demise of the daily walk, and I can't seem to get back in the habit.

Well have a great weekend everyone :)

Diary: Updates on my life

Well I've been busy going to class, trying to pay all of our bills, etc.

The end of the semester is in 2 weeks, then we have potlucks on the last day of classes. The substitute teacher Jeff is a nice guy, but doesn't know how to teach the 50+ crowd. those of us who are advanced did fine without his guidance, but the beginners, what a mess! Everyone's work was in danger because the teacher wasn't really going over things more than once, didn't watch their progress, and didn't watch what they were doing. They were glazing greenware and putting it in to be fired the first time, putting wet greenware in the dry cabinet, etc. Greenware can be painted with underglaze, but glazes can't be used until they greenware has gone through the first firing, both are fired at different temperatures So we had glazed greenware and greenware that wasn't completely dry blow up in the kiln, which of course broke other items around it. Expensive kiln shelves were ruined because the techs didn't pay attention and put glazed greenware in the kiln, which caused the items to fuse to the shelf.

And I have to say that a few of those newbies were just plain stupid, or need alzheimers medication! I can't wait for Pam to get back in the fall from her sabbatical in Spain. We have a couple of new advanced students who think it's o.k. to take up a whole side of a table that is built to fit 4 people in. They keep getting told by the lab supervisors, but then they are right back at spreading out the same day or the next class.

My car needs a new clutch and I have no idea how to pay for it, gas is 3.81 a gallon at costco, and food prices are up. How are we suppose to manage with prices so high? You know if the government stopped paying farmers not to grow crops there wouldn't be a grain shortage in the U.S. We grow rice right here in California, it's not necessary to import it from Asia. Now that they are experimenting with ethanol from corn, the price of corn has gone up. Everyone please shop at your local farmers market, the prices are lower, the food is organic, and you'll be supporting your local economy. And if you have the money or time to share with someone with less, do it.

We use fluorescent bulbs in all of our lamps, and turnoff lights, I at least don't stay in the shower long, use lukewarm water, and don't use a full force stream. My kid is the worst, I keep trying to tell him to stop taking 45 minute showers with hot water. We are living in a desert, even though it doesn't look that way, and CA has a real water shortage problem. And there are a whole bunch of people like my son out there just wasting resources which is costing everyone. If we weren't wasteful then the oil companies wouldn't be able to get by with gouging the public, or having oil tankers sit outside the 3 mile limit so they could raise prices with fake shortages.

Well that's just my take. As for Obama, I don't trust him, and he doesn't have enough experience. Being in the Senate for 1 year isn't good enough. And he's just a little to smooth talking for me, and everyone I talk to. We need a Woman in the White House, and Hillary has experience. She wants to provide healthcare for all Americans, not just the children like Obama wants. Do I see age discrimination here? What's next with his priorities, getting rid of medicare and social security for the low income seniors. I have an idea, how about cutting SS payments to wealthy Americans, especially those with pensions paying them over $100,000.00. Ooops, I forgot that will cut out every member of Congress, Supreme court Justices, and Senate, so that law being proposed or passed will never happen.

Take care all, and I'll try to get back here more often!

Just Stuff: Wow it's been a rough one!

I have been down with the flu since mid January, I'm feeling better now. I've said that before then had a relapse, but I hope this time it's for real. One good thing about the flu, I lost 10 lbs. Yep, I can fit into those skimpy little size 8 Jockey For Her undies. Woo Hoo!!!! But a lot has happened since my last blog.

My husband received his big payout from SSI which was $2, 000.00 short so now I have to go to Legal Aid. One of the first things I did was go to the Apple Store to buy a new iMac and printer. I am so happy to be back in the updated technical world. We bought the last computer, our G3 in 2000 when they were the new big thing. It's great, I'm sitting here listening to a classic rock station in Seattle on my computer, it's just so freaking great! Yesterday that station had technical problems so I was tuned into a station in Cleveland, and the other day Virgin radio in London, UK. And I can watch videos. There's a really cute one on Yahoo about the adventures of three little kittens from a Japanese lady. It's in Japanese with English subtitles. And my kid has been glued to this thing watching the entire series of Naruto in Japanese.

I took my car in for repairs, it still needs more work though. But it runs so much better. Now if it will just stop raining I can get it washed and cleaned on the inside as well. I forgot to tell them to put on new windshield wipers..duh.

We are pissed at Cox cable so we put in AT&T dish network satellite. And guess what, I actually have a cell phone now, and realized that I am a technical idiot when it comes to using them. I decided to get pay as you go AT&T service, it's a much better way for us since we don't use them except for emergencies. Of course our son will probably be glued to his since he has friends with the same network.

I'm making a Majolica birdbath for my ceramics project this semester. Trust me, it's going to take months to make this thing since I have to do it piece by piece, them epoxy them together. I will post a photo when it's finished. I'll probably enter it in the Emeritus art show in April if it's done, and the birds haven't done it in.

Anyway, I have a lot of work to do around here. Laundry doesn't do itself, and it's been sitting here since mid January waiting for me to get well. And the kitchen is a complete mess, I did a big load of dishes yesterday, then there's the fish tank and the carpets. I've decided to only do one or two projects a day until I know that I'm completely over this flu.

So take care everyone!!!

Just Stuff: Classes are starting

Well classes for Saddleback Emeritus Institute come back on Monday. I have my usual Wednesday Ceramics Studio all day and on Thursday morning, then Tai Chi with my husband on Friday monring. I look forward to seeing all of my friends in class, and our Instructor for Tai Chi (Andy). He's 83 and said he'll stop teaching the day they take him out on a gurney to the morgue. He says Tai Chi is the only thing keeping him going everyday.

My regular Wednesday Ceramics Teacher will be on sabbatical until Fall semester. She'll be in Italy and Spain taking art classes. We have a new guy coming in to fill in for her, we promised Pamme that we'd be nice to our substitute but we are reserving the right to put him in his place if he steps over the line. Actually were looking forward to giving the guy a hard time. What can I say, when you're over 50 you have to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning, other than your spouse and grown children.

I'll be taking a trip to Aardvard Clay and Supplies on Monday to get the things I use the most since it's cheaper in bulk. And it's always nice to see what new things they have in stock. I'm planning on making a set of cat dishes for Sheba, and some cups for my husband. I look at it this way, if I make her cat food dishes myself, then I know they are lead free and safe and don't have to worry about a recall on products made in China.

Sorry I've been busy all week guys, I had planned on getting back here sooner to say hello to everyone. Take care and have a great weekend.

Diary: Meet ups

Today I'm going to my first Knitting meetup group. They meet at different restaurants around town just to knit, crochet and talk. Since I taught myself to knit way back in High School it will be a treat to be around others who can give me knitting pattern advice, and just talk. My only problem is that I'm a shy introvert, but they sound like really nice Women. So I'm off with my big bag of knitting and the sweater jacket I'm making. Maybe I can find out how to edit the patterns so the sleeves aren't so big. I guess pattern makers figure if you are a plus size your arms must be huge! My arms are still petite, I'm still just 5" 1' it's the rest of me that's grown too big.

And it's a chance to get away from my husband, his siunus infection and my kid who seems to be crippled because he hurt his hand almost a month ago. Like he has it real rough...yea right.

Rants: This is bull!

I can't believe what I'm seeing here. This is just so childish. And the foul mouthed post from Daisy was uncalled for. And now PC hates me because I just want everyone to get along. I'm switching my posts to private.

Rants: Can't We Just Get Along!!

Come on guys, Newblog has always been a family of friends. A way to meet others that you would never get to know in private life, or even talk to let alone become friends with. While we all have different opinions and lifestyles everything just seemed to flow despite those differences. No suddenly it's become "My way or no Way" with a few people. And it's just ruined it for everyone. If you disagree say so, without attacking the person. And if you can't help but attack people, then don't comment. Just agree to disagree and move on.

I really loved reading Figgys daily commentaries, and always loved hearing what Mistletoe had to say, and now they aren't around anymore. So here's an idea....If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything!

It's o.k. to debate, but not attack. I go to classes with a lot of people, not everyone shares my political opinions, so I keep my mouth shut because they are nice people. And there's one person I'm friends with that most of the others don't even want around. I work in other studios with her, she's a nice person, but for some reason they've all decided to pick on her because she's a little different. I haven't said anything to date, but if I keep hearing remarks about her when she's not around I eventually will. But I'm saying it here....knock it off. You guys need to apologize to Figgy, Misteltoe and anyone else you've hurt.

Just Stuff: The day after shopping frenzy?

I was watching Good Day L.A. this morning and as usual they were covering the malls for the day after Christmas shopping frenzy. While they have some excellent deals out there I was surprised to see that the stores were almost empty at 8:00am. No long lines, no tug of war in the Womens department, it was just dead!

Well that's a sign of our countrys economy...were in a recession! That's because our government has allowed all of the companies to move their factories and calling centers to Pakistan, India, China, and Indonesia. And yes the frenzied spending on the Iraqi war. We have people starving, the homeless rate has soared and were spending a fortune on a war no one wants. The price of gas and energy is rediculous, and that's only because Bush and Cheney own oil stocks.

And now the lenders are crying about not being able to gouge people for their home loans in interest rates. They knew this was going to happen when they gave loans to people who can't afford to buy a half a million dollar property. The lenders knew they were going to go into foreclosure the minute the adjustable interest rate tripled, and the baloon payments were due. And the homeowners and realtors who were selling their homes took advantage by pricing them at 5-6 times above what they paid for them. Yet thousands of people have ended up homeless because of the predatory lending schemes.

According to economists and psychics this is only the beginning of our problems. They are saying that by the year 2010 we will be in a deep depression as the rich get richer and the middle class is wiped out. That's what happens when you send all of the jobs overseas. Global economy my ass! I'm with the French, throw the foreign imports out! A meal cooked by a French chef is better than anything Mc Donalds could come up with. The people in India are moving up from a third world country to a strong emergence of middle class existence. Yea, they're getting the jobs Americans use to have. What happens when the people in India start forming Unions, and demand higher pay? The corporate CEO's will dump them like a hot potato, and move the jobs somewhere else where they can take advantage of the poor. The problem is there comes a point of no return, when they won't be able to sell anything because the great American consumers won't be able to afford to buy any of their products.

My friends in the U.K. tell me prices are outrageous in London. My son told me prices in Israel are 3 times higher than they are here. So it's back to the American Consumer, only buy goods made in the USA. Oh that's right it's impossible to find them. Right now parents are putting the squeeze on the Toy companies. They have purchased American made alternatives this season out of fear that their children will get lead poisoning from chinese imports. If it keeps going that way, the toy manufacturers will be forced to reopen their American factories. That's how it's done people....demand quality over price and the jobs will be moved back here.

GREETINGS TO MY NEWBLOG FRIENDS

Just Stuff: It's been one of those months

Well I totally enjoyed the end of semester potlucks. I ate way too much of the wrong things. All the WW advice didn't help, there were no raw veggies or fruits to snack on, and you have to wait for the teacher to open the lunch table. One of the ladies made excellent baked chili rellenos, there were some fantastic cookies, and a chocolate torte. Then on Thursday we had cheese ravioli, pasta alfredo, and wonderfully delicious Tiramisu that our teacher brought.

And when I thought I had done all the bad things I could do, our Apartment Management team gave everyone a box of Candy Cane Jo Jo cookies from trader joes. Imagine oreos stuffed with candy cane creme. Yum!

I'm still waiting on Social Security to pony up the money they owe my husband so we can pay rent next month. I have Senator Feinsteins Office and AARP working on it for me. They guy at AARP asked me if I'm willing to go public with this. While I don't like the embarrasment of it, sure why not if that will get them to let loose of the funds. As it is we had a very close call this month, and I had to file an answer to an unlawful detainer. We paid rent, they just wanted late fees, and then $420.00 in court fees. They accepted the rent, end of story, they can't get more money claiming an unlawful detainer. The Irvine Company sucks!!!

And my sons friend just decided to show up out of the blue last Sunday. He was suppose to leave Tuesday, and he's still here. My son hurt his hand at work on the 11th and hasn't been able to go back because of the pain. Despite a company doctor saying he can work while under the influence of Vicoden, and a smashed hand. He just told them forget it, and if they try to make him work anyway he'll just sue for workmans comp, which he's doing anyway. But rather than follow my advice, he's listening to his friend from San Diego about making big bucks going after Disneyland. His injury just isn't that serious. He can apply for workmans comp through the state after he goes to see his primary care doctor, but it's not a big payout lawsuit. And I'd like his friend to go home, stop making extra work for me in my kitchen, and filling my kid with get rich quick lawsuits. He's taken him to two lawyers so far, one for personal injury and the other for workmans comp. He doesn't have a personal injury claim, and his injury is too new to file a claim.

On the bright side my son was invited to the Van Halen Concert in Anaheim and he bought me a Van Halen Reunion Tour T-shirt. While I love the shirt, I'd rather have gone to the concert, those guys rock!!

My husband and I are going to a Candlelight Yule ritual at the local CUUPS chapter tonight. It will be nice to get out for awhile, and away from the kids that seem to congregate here. And man am I tired of waiting on my son.

Have a great holiday everyone.

Light Recipes: Spaghetti Squash

1 large spaghetti squash
Marinara Sauce-homemade or in a jar
Mushroom, sliced
Fat free or Soy Mozarella cheese, grated

Slice squash in half lenghtwise, remove seeds, then cook in microwave, oven or boil till done. Conventional method about 20-45 minutes, microwave about 10 minutes. When cool, scrape out squash with fork into a baking pan or casserole dish.

Add mushrooms, and sauce, mix well. Top with mozarella. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Diary: Magickal Meetup

My husband and I went to the Magickal Meetup Wednesday. It was at a Japanese Curry House. I liked that group better than the Witches meetup, but they could have picked a better location. We had to shell out a lot of money for food I hate. Even the salad had curry in it. So I just ordered a side dish of mild rice pilaf. I wasn't the only one who hates curry, and when you are at a Curry restaurant that's all that's on the menu.

But the people were great, the conversation interesting, and I'd like to go to another meetup as long as it's not too far away.

Just Stuff: What a month!

Well the ants are pretty much under control. We bought new ant traps that take care of two types of ants, and had the exterminator spray around our building. But the cat still has her dishes in the dining room instead of the kitchen. She's not happy because it's more of a walky past the dining table to the kitchen where it's very busy. But everytime I put her placemat and water bowl back in the kitchen it's swarmed with ants.

And I've had to be strict with my son and husband when it comes to brining in dishes. They can't just go on the counter or in the sink anymore, they have to be rinsed and soaked, then placed in the dishwasher. And I've had to be more dilligent about putting leftovers away immediately, instead of lounging after dinner.

I'm really ticked off at UPS. I was waiting on a next day letter so I could pay my rent on time, and some nitwit misplaced it. It was suppose to be here Wednesday by 10:00am, and it didn't get here until 6:30pm Thursday. Needless to say my checked bounced, and I'm really going to have to pay out some stiff fees on that one.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go to both class potlucks next week. Wednesday is the big one where we combine the morning and afternoon classes. I'm taking spaghetti squash lasagne. If it's such a big hit with my son, it can't miss with my classmates. But the Thursday morning class is small, and has been getting smaller by the week for the past month and a half. Only four of us went to class this week, and I really don't feel like making something for a couple of people, then making a drive to Laguna Woods. I had thought about Bruschetta since it is an Italian theme, but someone else is brining it. And I don't want to take a store bought sweet since it's fattening. But on the other hand I don't want to do a lot of work if no one is going to show up. I'd rather stay home and conserve on gas. Especially since several people already said they won't be there because of holiday travel plans or really don't care to be there.

And then there's the fact that I've been on a weight loss plateau since August. I'm starting to get really depressed over that. And now there's a couple of guys in our Tuesday meeting which is a real let down. Men just lose by leaps and bounds, and we women struggle because of our implanted genetics for motherhood. Hey I'm too old to have kids, where the weight loss!

Then our group leader just has to go out of her way to congradulate these guys, who don't need it. I wish I could lose 27 lbs. in 9 weeks! I don't want to applaud them for just watching their food intake and losing, I want to kick them in the balls for making me feel worse. If any of you are WW Leaders, take a cue....the women in your group are suffering and getting ready to call it quits, then instead of encouragement, we get the rub it in our face treatment. If you want to give men encouragement on their swift weight loss do it at the scale, not in front of the group.

Well that's my rant for the day. Have a great weekend everyone.

Rants: The only good ant is a dead ant

I am fighting the battle of the ant attack. Have been for weeks now. I wake up in the morning to find that they have invaded a new spot with no apparent goal in mind. Why are they in the cupboard with the glasses? There's nothing there. Then I discovered that they have a big nesting spot under the coffee maker! They even like the dishwasher and the cats water bowl. And I can't find where they are coming from.

Yesterday I cleaned one side of my kitchen countertops, where I found the coffee maker invasion. I gave them what they wanted, hot liquid! Strangely enough they weren't anywhere near the toaster. Every appliance was scrubbed down to the smallest piece. But there's still a few stragglers.

Then this morning I wake up to the ant invasion, taunting me with their beedy little bodies as if to say "Hey bitch you didn't win this one." They were all over the top of the stove, so I gave them a nice heated surface and a hot oven. They're still not gone completely. And the ant traps I put out a few weeks back? Didn't phase them.

I won't use harsh poisons because I like my health, I have a cat and an aquarium. I don't know what else to do. They're even in the bathrooms it's maddening, frustrating and tiring.

As for those of you who believe ants serve some sort of purpose...I hope you get my ants. While they may kill aphids on plants, they kill the plant with the aphids.

My alma matter UC, Irvine has Peter Anteater as our mascot, and I'm not giving up, if I have to call the Alumni Association to borrow the services of the real Peter Anteater, I'm getting rid of those damn ants! And yes there is a real Peter Anteater, not just a student in a colorful anteater suit.

And the motto is still the only good ant is a dead ant!

Magick: The problem with Silver RavenWolf

The Problem With Silver Ravenwolf (alternative to Wicca For The Rest Of Us)

I came across this article when doing some research this morning. I know many of
you have already read the similar "Wicca For The Rest Of Us" article but I
enjoyed this one too and wanted to share it. The Article can be found from
it's original source at http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/vanthal/608/id57.htm
A number of people in the Pagan community have a problem with "Mama Silver,"
and are frequently asked "why?". Answers vary, as there are a number of reasons.
At first glance, many people might think that it is simply a matter of envy, that
since she is such a well known figure she makes an easy target. While that may
certainly be the case in some instances, many others have complaints which go
well beyond that, which Silver is apparently completely unwilling to address on
her own behalf. I am writing this article in the interest of no longer having to
type out the same thing repetitively on message boards. This article should be
read with the fact firmly in mind that these are the personal views of myself
and many others regarding her work. I would encourage the reader to keep these
things in mind if or when they read her work.
Let me start out by saying that I truly believe Silver had the best of
intentions
in the beginning. Perhaps she still does. Her early books, "To Ride a Silver
Broomstick" and "To Stir a Magick Cauldron" aren't terribly bad, although there
are better ones available in my opinion. From there, however, begins a downward
spiral. Where the fur truly began to fly was with the publication of "Teen Witch",
so I'll concentrate mainly there.
I've read "Teen Witch" cover to cover, and I must say that it wasn't as bad as
I'd expected from all the hype. Unfortunately, that doesn't say much. The first
overall disturbing thing that strikes me about this book is the way in which it
is blatantly targeted at Christian teens. The author practically jumps through
hoops to draw the reader to the conclusion that Witches worship the Christian
God, relegating Witchcraft to Christianity with special effects, so to speak.
Now, I understand that this is meant to be an introductory book for young
readers and their parents. However, I fail to see how leading readers to
incorrect conclusions at the outset is helpful. The whole book dumbs down
and sugar-coats the practice of Witchcraft, while at the same time managing
to further spread misinformation. I'll address some of that now.

pg. 9, par. 2

"The Spiritual Laws represent a code of ethics or morals giving the Crafter a
guideline for spiritual living, whether you choose to practice as a Solitary
(a Witch alone) or within a group structure. These Spiritual Laws apply to all
magickal people, and most magickal individuals incorporate these laws into their
group workings and their solitary practices."

All Magickal people? Since when is there a Unified Pagan Ethic, and why wasn't
a memo sent out? That's pure tripe. For example, if you are at all familiar with
the Asatruar, you know that they follow Norse Paganism with heavy emphasis on
honor and the way of the Warrior. How logical is it, then, to assume that they
follow the idea of "Harm None" as do so many Neo-Wiccans? A good many non-Neo-
Wiccan Witches also do not believe in any such thing as the "Rule of Three" or
in limiting their options with a "Harm None" clause. That doesn't mean they
prowl the streets at night looking for someone to smite, it simply means they
won't hesitate to smite under the right circumstances.

pg. 13, par. 3 & 5

"Real Witches do not...

...hurt people physically, mentally, spiritually, or magickally. Witches have
taken an oath to help people, not hurt people. You are not a real Witch if you
hurt anybody.
...work black magick - that's those other guys. Real Witches know that whatever
you do, whether in this world or the magickal world, comes back to you three times.
If you do good stuff, then you get rewarded. If you do bad stuff, you pay the
price -and, let me add, you will pay dearly. Wiccans have a poem that goes: Ever mind
the rule of three, what you give out comes back to thee."

Oh please. Just because someone doesn't conform to the ethical standpoint of
her personal choice, they aren't a "Real Witch"? As for the "Rule of Three" and
"Harm None" see my prior comment.

pg. 14, par. 7

"...drink or use blood in any way from animals, themselves, or any person (alive
or dead). How you like your steak has nothing to do with the Craft."

**BZZZZT** Blood Magick is quite an old practice, and there are most certainly
Traditions of Witchcraft today which do incorporate blood in some spells and
ritual. It definitely isn't for everyone, even though the blood is often obtained
in a non-violent manner such as harvesting menstrual blood, but it is done nonethe-
less. Also, this statement most definitely maligns religions such as Santeria and
Vodoun, which do utilize blood sacrifice in some instances.

pg. 14, par. 11

"...summon demons. We simply are not that dumb."

Goetia, anyone? While this practice would certainly be more common in groups
which lean more heavily towards Ceremonial Magick, the summoning of entities,
including demons, to serve or perform a specific purpose is centuries old. To
suggest that someone is not a "Real Witch" simply because they happen to do so
is ludicrous.

pg. 15, par. 2

"...use Satanic symbols. The Witches' pentacle, or five-pointed star point-up
within a circle, represents the four elements and the human, encompassed by
Spirit. The pentacle has nothing to do with Satanism, and Witches get very,
very upset with people who match the point-up pentacle with Satanism. Just as
Witches do not invert the Christian cross, they don't appreciate it when someone
inverts their symbol either."

This is absolutely beyond laughable. I'm nearly at a loss as to where to
even begin. Yes, the pentacle is representative of the five Elements (Spirit
or Akasha, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth). With the point up, it represents Spirit
ascendant above matter. Inverted it represents Spirit descending into matter. For
someone who claims to be an initiated Elder of Wicca, she seems completely
ignorant of the symbolism used in Second Degree initiation (which is not yet
Elder status) by admonishing her readers that inverting the pentacle is a "bad
thing". As to the use of the inverted pentacle as a Satanic symbol, it would
stand to reason that it is used by them as such specifically because it
represents Spirit descending into matter. Since many Satanists, particularly
the LaVeyan Satanists, worship the self rather than any literal entity known as
Satan, glorifying the practitioner as divinity in flesh and materialism are
natural, logical steps with the symbolism. Upright or inverted, the pentacle
has no moral "value" beyond that which the observer delegates to it, and what
is implied by the context in which it is used.

pg. 19, par. 2

"Real Witches do...

...know that the art of magick is our greatest gift. If we work bad magick,
Spirit will take our gift(s) from us. If we work positive magick, then that
good energy will return to us threefold."

Nice heavy-handed moral manipulation. Oddly reminiscent of "do as I say or
you're doomed to burn in Hell."

pg. 101, par 1

"The textbook definition of 'magick' goes something like this: Using one's
will to create form. Magick requires belief in a higher power, and faith in
yourself. I've written scads of material on magick, and have read hundreds
of books on the topic as well. I've thought about magick, talked about magick,
and practiced magick for over twenty years. I've discovered that just as many
religions exist in the world, so too many magickal systems present themselves
from which the student may choose. I've learned that just as no religion is
better than another, so too no magickal system outshines another. And I've
learned that a magickal system isn't worth squat unless you plug that system
into a religion."

What?!?! Ye Gods, what a mess! First and foremost, the creation of form is
rarely a goal in Magickal work. Change, yes, but not form. As Aleister Crowley
defined it, Magick is "The Art and Science of creating change in conformity with
Will." I've found no better definition to date. Magick requires a belief in a
higher power? I guess someone had better inform the Atheist and Agnostic mages
I've had the pleasure of conversing with. What I really love though, is the way
she states here that no religion and no Magickal system is better than another,
then turns around and states that a Magickal system is worthless if not plugged
into a religion in the next breath. Simply amazing.

pg. 102, par. 1

"Whether you practice folk magick or ceremonial magick, both systems used in a
positive way have the following in common: All magick contains prayer. All magick
incorporates divinity. All magick concentrates on positive change."

All magick most certainly does not incorporate prayer, as any practitioner of
over twenty years should well know. Prayer is the petitioning of a deity to cause
something to occur. In Magick, the caster is working to cause that change themself.
They may certainly incorporate prayer to petition a deity to aid in reaching the
desired outcome of the spell, but that is not necessary.

pg. 104, par. 3

"Every magickal application, whether we are talking about spellwork, ritual,
drumming, singing, et cetera, involves prayer - making a request to Spirit, honor
ing Spirit, or celebrating God all involve divinity. Every act of magick begins
with a desire...and a prayer."

See above.

pg. 106, par. 2

"To evoke means to bring forth from within ourselves an energy or force outward
into the universe."

She says she's been practicing Magick for over twenty years, and yet she doesn't
even know what evocation is within a Magickal paradigm.

pg. 130, par. 6

"The Dark Side - Witches Don't Go There

Witches do not work magick to harm others and we know that no real power lies in
evil."

Right. That's why there are so many versions of curse, binding, and smiting,
many of which have been around a good deal longer than her supposed twenty years
of practice. I suppose that's also why the saying "A witch who can't harm can't
heal" came about.

So, we have here an author who is blatantly targeting minors of other faiths,
moralizing for the entire community, has decided it is up to her to determine
who is and is not a "Real Witch", and is spewing blatant misinformation. On
top of this, she goes on in her book "Teen Witch" to encourage minors to
deceive their parents by the use of "sneak attacks" in order to subvert their
rules and wishes. The icing on the cake, however, is on her own web site where
she is promoting "Teen Witch". She states (current as of this writing)
"Teen Witch! Is at the bookstores NOW. Call 1-800-THE-MOON to place your order,
or bug, bother and pester your neighborhood book store till they can't stand it
any more. Oh, and for the adults that don't like this statement? Maybe you don't
care about their future, but I do." Excuse me?!?! Not only is she going to
encourage my kids to make obnoxious pests of themselves, but also to turn against
me because "I don't care" if I won't let them have her book? "You're family
doesn't care about you/understand you, but I do" is a classic cultic hook. That
alone is reason enough for many of us to look with disgust at the turn her work
has taken. That is not the manner in which much of the Pagan community at large
wishes to be represented.

Silver has to make a living. I understand that. She is most likely under contract
to write "X" number of books. I understand that as well. I would think that she
could at least make the effort to make them good, accurate books though. Perhaps
it is just as well that she now seems to be focusing on fiction.
Neither Wicca, nor Witchcraft in general need or deserve to be sugar-coated or
dumbed down. If "Mama Silver" truly understood and respected her targeted
audience, she would not have felt it necessary to do so. Most teens certainly
don't need it, which leaves the likelihood that it was done for the "benefit"
of the parents of those teens. As a parent myself, that's not a ploy I
appreciate.

If someone takes it upon themself to teach, they need to teach without
patronizing, and teach accurate information. They need to do so in a way
which encourages communication, not deceit. They need to do it in an ethical
manner, without imposing their own personal ethics upon others. If they take
it upon themselves to represent a community, they need to ensure that they do
just that, rather than try to make the community conform to them. It is my
opinion, and that of many others within the Pagan community, that Silver has
failed in all these things. That is the problem with Silver Ravenwolf.
Author's note, 5/11/05 : Over the years I have received a number of emails in
response to this article, and I greatly appreciate that feedback whether it be
in agreement with my opinion or opposed to it. I do want to address one theme
common to the critical feedback I have received, however. It is my hope that
the reader will bear in mind that, while I have certainly expressed my own
opinion in the above article, I have also taken great care to present direct
quotations to support that opinion. It is also my hope that the reader will
take such supporting statements into consideration before arbitrarily deciding
that I'm simply out to "Silver bash" due to some nebulous personal agenda.
The sum of my reasons for writing the article in the first place are plainly
stated in the article itself.

Just Stuff: When it rains it pours

Just once I'd like my life to be nice and peaceful, but that never happens. It seems when one thing goes wrong so does everything else. My husbands doctor was suppose to write him a letter so he could get the rest of the back payments from SSI. Without it we can't pay the rent. But both he and his assistant went on vacation for a week without writing the letter.

For some strange reason the SSA has decided that they will give out back funds in three payments every 6 months. To get funds in between those payments you have to justify a medical necessity. Well I think Agoraphobia requires a roof over ones head since my husband can't leave the house! Which the letter was suppose to justify with emphasis on housing. And rent is due no later than Monday the 3rd without a late fee.

So I talked to Megan in his office and she offered to type the letter that his doctor originally wrote for SSI to help him get disability payments in the first place. It basically says he can't leave the house, lists his medications and he's under the doctors care. I told her sure it's better than nothing. So I have to pick that up today, then go to the Post Office to send it Return receipt requested since that bitch at the SSA office ignored the last letter. Now I can prove it was sent, and if the funds aren't released ASAP I'll contact Senator Feinsteins office again. Wich is the only thing that got the bitch off her ass the last time we needed funds realeased.

My Dad was helping with rent but for some unknown reason (probably someone he lives around or my brother or sister talking to him) suddenly turned into Godzilla. He only sent part of the rent last month, this month he only sent 1/4 of it, and next month he says he's turning his finances over to my brother and he won't help at all. He was suppose to help until we can get HUD section 8 funding which reduces the amount of rent we have to pay. But at $742.00 a month we can't pay $1555.00 in rent even with our sons help.

I just don't know why everything seems to happen at the last minute. Usually when we have a crises help doesn't come until the 11th hour, the last minute, and sometimes after the last minute but just in time to save us. I'll let you guys know what happens, and I wish all of you a much better day than I'm having.

Rants: Shameless Advertising

I love newblog but it's turning into another myspace with a bunch of idiots advertising their businesses. What next porno? This is rediculous. I'm an artist and I know there's a lot of other artists here and we don't use our blogs to advertise or post "phony" newspaper articles about ourselves. That has got to be the most ostentatious thing I've ever seen.

Quite frankly I don't have the time to post on blogs or groups all over the internet because I'm actually out creating my art and going to shows instead of sitting at a screen all day. Buyer beware: if someone is spending all of their time advertising on blogs and groups their art isn't handmade, it's purchased through a wholesaler. It takes many hours and many processing steps to create a handmade piece of art, whether it's pottery, handbuilt ceramics, paintings or prints, it all takes time. I spend most of each day on my art and that's why my house isn't clean, and I'm not around for long periods of time.

I'm here to make friends, and yes I love showing off my work in my photo album, but you won't find me posting blogs dedicated to advertising. And when I let everyone know I'm doing a show I am genuinely interested in meeting you as a newblog friend, not a potential buyer. So if you live in my area or an area where I'm doing a show, please come by just to say hello and have a cup of tea.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Just Stuff: I celebrate Yule, not Xmas

I'm pagan so I celebrate Yule, which was our holiday before the christians stole it for a guy who was actually born in April. Yule is the celebration of the returning solar influence. The Winter Solstice (Yule) marks the shortest day of the year, bringing longer days as we near the Summer Solstice which is the longest day of the year.

I have put up my Yule wreath, and today I'm putting up Pointsettas (silk ones, real ones are a danger to cats), and getting the living room arranged for the tree. It's time to retire the old tree as it's getting raggedy, and buy a new one, preferably with pre-strung lights. I'm going to have to have the guys move the aquarium somewhere else, I just don't know where yet, and the altar also needs to be moved, somewhere. The problem is finding room, or rather a space that isn't occupied by a bookcase or other piece of furniture. Blocking doors is out of the question. Maybe the fish can go in my bedroom, or by the TV. I haven't figured it out yet, and I haven't broken the news to the guys. The tank will have to have at least 50%-75% of the water drained so it can be moved without too much trouble. But when the new tree comes home, it's going up so the place has to be ready.

I bought two new Catfish last week. Our other one died a few weeks ago, on our Wedding Anniversary. It had been acting strange but I didn't figure it out until it was too late. The catfish was my husbands favorite and had been one of the original fish when I started the aquarium. This time we have glass coreys. They better live after spending $5.00 each on them. Now if I can just get rid of the Algae that's ragin out of control. I'll save that story for another day. And yes, my kid is still working at Disneyland!

I have the Long Beach Womens Spirit Faire on Saturday, which I'm not totally ready for. I just got my pagan ornaments in the first firing, and there's no way they'll be ready for Friday, but they will be ready for the PPLA show on December 9th. Hopefully I'll sell more than the space fee. I'll never do a non-pagan craft show again, those people are rude, and cheap. With the economy the way it is the past few years people just aren't spending money like they did when Clinton was in office. Isn't it nice that elections are a little less than a year away?

And tomorrow I have to pick up a letter from my husbands doctor to send to the SSA to get the rest of the money they owe him so we can pay rent. They still owe him $8, 000.00 but won't release it unless it's a medical necessity, other wise we have to wait until March. It seems to me that being Agoraphobic means it's a medical necessity to have a home you feel safe in. What do you think?

Well have a great Sunday everyone, take care.

Diary: My Thanksgiving

I had a great holiday with my cat Sheba, husband, son, and a couple of his friends. It was peaceful, and everything went smooth. I didn't have all of my cooking to do in one day as I started on Tuesday. Everything made is Weight Watchers friendly, but I did pig out a bit.

Today I'm catching up on my videos and DVD's that I fell asleep on in previous weeks. And since there's no little ones I don't have to worry about getting to the store to grab the latest toys of the season. All the dishes were rinsed last night, so all I have to do is stack them in the dishwasher. I'm happy that I don't have a large family to clean up after!

Have a great weekend everyone, and try to stay out of the malls if you can.

Diary: Turkey Day

Well I guess I had better start preparing for the big feast Thursday. Since I have classes tomorrow I won't feel like cooking tomorrow. My son brought me flowers he bought at Team Disney that are freshly cut from the park flower beds. They are absolutely stunning! But alas my son has to work on Thanksgiving, so he's a little bummed about that, and I don't blame him. I will be taking him to work and picking him up because the buses are on weekend schedules. That bad old Mouse makes everyone slave even on the sacred days. So give a boo to the house of the mouse, who makes his employees work holidays!

Well I have to start on my stuffing. Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Rants: My Ceramics Teacher

As you know I'm enrolled in Emeritus Ceramics Classes through Saddleback College. Emeritus is for older adults, most people in the classes are 50+. But my teacher being head of Emeritus Art wants to call this a "serious" academic class to make her feel more important. The class is free except for a $5.00 lab fee, there's no finals or exams, there's no grades, not even CR/NC, but my teacher wants to call it academic. Yes she even has three projects per semester that she expects us to do or she considers us freeloaders taking up space. Some of the projects are way too expensive for me to do, and others I have no interest in.

So I got tired of her harassing me about projects and just came out and said "hey, I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to do all of your projects." Which lead to a "Well this is a project driven class, it's not open studio time, and we have an agreement with laguna woods village to do projects." Which is interesting since Laguna Woods Village is paid by Saddleback College for the use of their classroom space, our lab techs who fire the ceramics are Saddleback employees, and they use Saddleback and State funds to pay for any new supplies they get. So without Saddleback College and people like myself there would be no Ceramics program at Laguna Woods Village. Especially since most of the people who take the classes aren't residents anyway. Plus they treat non-residents as though we were the unwelcome relatives overstaying their welcome. Yet it's the residents who steal our pieces when there are no classes, they misplace molds and make a dirty mess of the supplies.

To regress, all I asked was to do this latest project in plain Cover Coats instead of Neons because I can't afford to buy them, they're expensive. I have a whole load of regular paints that I spent a fortune on. I never get out of Aardvark Clay and Supplies without spending less than $40.00, and I've spent at least $200.00 since classes began in August. But the bitch won't go along with it. Well what's she going to do, flunk me? Kick me out? She can't it's an Emeritus class. And because I mentioned the fact that older students tend to have disabilities associated with age, she had to make a big deal about it and forward my letter to the Dean of Emeritus. Of course the Dean sees those federal dollar signs in her eyes for "disabled students" and her reply was that I need to go through Special Services Counseling if I want to be accommodated. To which I replied "You're not going to use me as a cash cow for Federal funding." So the fight is on!! Over paints, just plain paints.

So I have written to the head of Special Services at Saddleback explaining that I am over 50 years old, of course I have medical problems, and no I'm not going through lengthy testing so they can qualify me as a disabled student. I had to do that in regular college in order to have a level playing field, but since this isn't academics, I don't need that anymore. My ADD, Learning Disabilities no longer get in the way of academic exams leading to a college degree, I have two degrees from UCI so I'm done with testing and jumping through hoops. So the Special Services counselor is going to speak with the Dean of Emeritus to explain to her that the fact that these are classes for older adults it's presumed that we have disabilities, and classes or projects should be modified by the instructors according to a students needs without us having to go through disabled student services.

But just to make sure I wrote a letter to the State Superintendant of Adult and Post Secondary Education to make my point. And I brought up a few extra points about the rules at the clubhouse and how they do not adhere to state and federal guidelines when it comes to the students. And of course my teacher plays favorites with her "Pets". I also questioned why she would get so upset about me not using neons. I'm wondering if she gets a kickback from Duncan Ceramics, or if she is just a megalomaniac with dreams of granduer. Either way, she's not taking it out on me, and I refuse to be harassed because I'm not independently wealthy like the Laguna Woods Residents. Laguna Woods is a private retirement community.

So we will see how things go, but I'm sure I will win this one. Teacher goes on a Sabbatical to Spain and Italy in December, and when my she comes back from her sabbatical next fall things will have changed dramatically.

Take care and have a good Thanksgiving guys.

Just Stuff: Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Thanks for the birthday greetings guys. I actually had a pretty good day. I decided to go take a nap with the cat in my room, and when I woke up the dishes were done, and the dishwasher emptied. And that cake I made was really good, only 2 points a slice. It was really easy to make; 1 box of chocolate fudge cake mix, 1 - 16oz. can of pumpkin and 1 cup of fat free milk or soy milk. Just follow package directions for mixing and baking. I didn't even taste the pumpkin, and the cake rose really great without the oil and eggs added.

I will be using the same recipe with spice cake mix for pumpkin spice muffins. It's not winter without pumpkin spice muffins and fat free hot chocolate! I think I'm going to make the muffins for my end of semester pot luck as well since they are so good. All of the other students bring such fattening dishes and desserts. I don't know about you, but I really hate having to eat fruits and raw veggies at pot lucks, it just sucks.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Rants: This is war!

Remember the upstairs neighbor with the loud stereo? I took care of that one night when I lobbed a few raw eggs on his patio. No problems since then. But those kids who live with him have junked up the area under the stairs next to my porch with skateboards, bikes with flat tires, basketballs, pieces of skateboards, tools, and anything else they manage to run accross.

I finally figured out what to do. Remember the Rat on my patio? No I'm not that mean, I wouldn't hurt a poor defenseless rat, but I know how to kill two birds with one stone. I'm moving the bird feeder that attracted her from the patio, to the porch, right over the stairway. Since the manager who made me take it down has been gone for over a year, it's a fresh start. I just need to keep the Sunflower seeds swept up. Now the little assholes will either move all of their crap, or that's just what they'll have over all of their stuff. And it's not like I'm picking on little kids, they are all high school age. And my beautiful ceramic birdhouse is now on my patio where they can't screw with it. HA!

And if that doesn't work, I'm getting out the Hot Foot Powder and 4 Theives Vinegar, a sure way to make them move. But first I'll put something on my porch to make life even more miserable for them, like a giant potted plant, or a ceramic Yulescape. How about Lugh or Pan celebrating the Yule holiday with a Pagan Nativity Scene? I can get really creative when I want to be. What do you think? I accept all opinions.

Diary: Long week & It's my birthday

Well it's my birthday, after a long week that really sucked. My son' friend Marlene was here for a week, her Dad was found murdered in Barstow on the Train tracks. The poor girl has been homeless for years ever since her parents kicked her out. She made the mistake of covering for her little brother when they found pot in his room. She's going to live with her older brother in Nevada now. It's about time someone in her family stepped up to help her out.

My son has had two meltdowns this week, and of course as always it's our fault for whatever the meltdown is. Everyone has been down all week with a cold. I came down with it Sunday, after my husband and son. Probably from sitting in the cool breeze by the duck pond Saturday. I spent $90.00 to make $10.00 at the holiday faire. I'm not going back next year.

Speaking of the craft show, I can't believe how careless shoppers are with merchandise they are looking at. I have very fragile items, and those people picked pieces up as if they were made of plastic or cast iron. And then there were always people coming to and from the park cutting between my table and the lady next to me. So we put our things closer together to close the gap. And still some kid who's old enough to know better tried to squeeze through the space. So the vendor next to me just got up and moved her one stand up against the side of my table to close it off comepletely. She said to me "I can't believe that kid was trying to squeeze through that spot.". I can, shoppers at craft faires have no regard for anyone else. On the other side of the table we had a large umbrella which made it more difficult. There was an entrance up front to the building, but as always there were a number of people wanting to get out of paying the $2.00 admission fee, or wanting to exit where they are not suppose to.

Tell me, is it rude to put up a sign asking people not to touch or pick up the merchandise? I was thinking of a big sign that says "If you break it you bought it." Because people will let small children pick up fragile items, and it's very upsetting. I would never have let my son do that, and I would never have allowed him to go running through a store or a craft faire with a friend like some of these kids were doing. I have a pagan show next month, and I'm just not very good with people.

The show next month is on December 1st in Long Beach. If you are in that area, it's at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Atherton. There is a $5.00 admission fee to benefit the Temple of Isis, but you get a raffle ticket for merchandise donated by vendors at the faire.

Oh yes, I have a few items closing today on ebay, two ornaments (Unicorn, Wizard) and a Kitty cat teapot. I have found ebay to be a bit disappointing as a seller and a buyer. Unless you have a collectable item it's hard to sell. And if you want something you have to be glued to it during the last 10 minutes to try to snag it during the closing bid frenzy. I will always use the Buy Now feature since it's so much easier. I got my Kit Kat clock, and a set of Blue Willow dishes from rbay at a good price.

It would be a much better birthday if I had the cash to attend the Veterans Day sales to drown my sorrows. And I need things too.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Just Stuff: Kids are ungrateful

Samhain was actually pretty boring here, not many trick or treaters. But after the last bunch I think my days of handing out treats are over. Because I'm on Weight Watchers I got stuff I wouldn't eat (chocolate), so as I was handing out treats to the last bunch of kids, they handed it back to me, "We don't want this, you can have it back." is something I've never heard before. I felt like saying "Beverly Hills is North of here boys, go there if you want something else." Needless to say they're bags were nearly empty. Not good for the 6-8 year old crowd on Halloween. I'm not the only one who watches their weight or can't afford 10 bags of expensive chocolate bars. I'm still pissed.

Money is really tight this month so I doubt I'll be able to celebrate my 25th Wedding Anniversay next Tuesday or my birthday on the 10th. And tomorrow is the Holiday Faire, that I'm not sure I'm participating in because of a screw up at Home Shopping Network. All of my outstanding checks including the Holiday Faire check bounced, and I can't afford to pay the $90+ fee for that right now. In fact I don't even have the money to make change tomorrow. I called to speak to the coordinator of the faire about it but haven't heard back from her. I really need the money I can make there, but I don't want to show up and be told that my space has been given away. It's a lot of work to pack all of that stuff in the car, even if the Fine Arts Center is next door. And my husband has been suffering from migraines for the past 2 days, so I may not have a helper, which I need.

Maybe I'll have better news in the next day or two, but right now life is pretty depressing.

MERRY SAMHAIN!!!

Happy haunting, hope you get a scare, but don't eat too much candy or your tummy will flare.

Don't forget to watch Ghost Hunters Live at 9:00pm on SciFi channel. I'll be passing out treats while watching.

Have Fun,
Cerridwyn

Magick: Samhain Ritual

On Sunday we went to a Samhain ritual at the OCCUUPS in Costa Mesa. It was a nice gathering, but a few too many people in a room that was way too small. We enjoyed it though, as well as the feast afterwards. And as luck would have it there was only one Yuppie there who loved to talk about herself for much too long and too often. The rest of the group was just good down to earth people.

After being on Weight Watchers for so long, and then being ill for awhile I just thoroughly pigged out, and not in a good way. Someone brought homemade Macaroni and Cheese, as well as stuffed vegetarian Mushrooms. And a cheese plate with Muenster cheese which is my favorite. For dessert I was good only having a baked apple. Did anyone ever hear of brining fruit? My digestive system just can't handle raw veggies so I neve grab those. The next time we go to a ritual I'll have to take something that's WW approved and easily digestible. Which is what I'm going to do for the end of Semester pot luck in Ceramics class this year.

I have a lot to do today, but wanted to fill everyone in on the details of the ritual. Have a Safe and Happy Samhain!

Diary: Another Faire!

Just when I thought it wasn't going to happen I received a notice stating that I've been accepted into the Womens Spirit Faire in Long Beach. Now I need to start getting together some pagan things to sell. While I have plenty of Green Men, Fairies and Wizards, I'm short on Goddess items, and Pagan Yule ornaments. And the Faire is December 1st!

I hope I can get it together in time. I went by the Fine Arts Center yesterday to see what's been fired and found that my things put up for a glaze firing still hadn't been fired. I put them on the shelf in September, they should have been done weeks ago. I'm paying lab fees for this and I don't appreciate that other artists who are also in the Holiday Faire are getting their stuff fired and mine isn't. The Fine Arts Center is also busy firing little bowls to sell their chili in, so you know where that puts everyone elses work. I have got to get a kiln, this is just rediculous!

Today we are going to the Samhain ritual at the Unitarian Universalist Pagan Church in Costa Mesa. It's been at least 20 years since we've gone to a group ritual. And while I'm glad my husband wants to get back into the pagan scene, he's the kind of person that goes full force when he chooses to do something. Like my son, only my son gets fanatical. My husband is going to take a photo of his Mom to honor her, and I'm taking photos my my Mom, my brother, and our departed kitty of 14 years Trouble. It should be an enjoyable experience since our apartment doesn't have a very big living room.

Diary: It's winding down

Well the fire is still burning but I understand it's slowing down. The freeway traffic has been slower because of it. On Wednesday I could see the thick black smoke rising up from the other side of the foothills, it was so close. Aside from the obvious air pollution we are doing good here. I hope they catch the jerk who set that fire, I'd turn him in without a reward if I knew anything.

I was in Ceramics class when someone from the Laguna Woods office came in to tell us that Emeritus classes are being cancelled until Monday along with the regular on campus classes for Saddleback college. But like our teacher said, we only have an hour until class ends, and this is just the type of class where you can pick up a leave you molds sitting on the rack to dry. They have to be taken apart and cleaned, then our pieces have to be put on the drying rack.

So today I'm going to do my best to get over the flu, as well as tidy up around here before I go over to the Irvine Fine Arts Center to check on my ceramic pieces that I put in for firing. Although it's kind of hard to get over the flu when I've had to pick up my kid from work for the past several days in 90 degree weather and ashes flying around me.

The good news is he's still working, still likes his job and the people there still like him a lot. And he is contributing to food, gas and rent without any problems.

Next week is the Holiday Faire that I'm rushing to get ready for. I still have to buy a table cloth, and make signage for the event. If you live in or around Orange County, CA come by to see me. The event is being held at the Irvine Fine Arts Center on Yale Avenue. I will be selling my art at that event on Saturday November 3rd from 10-4. Admission is $2.00 to raise money for Fine Arts Center events and projects. I will be located outside on the patio. I'll be featuring a Demitasse cup set for $35.00, a teapot to go with it is $25.00 and cream and sugar bowl are $5.00 each. If you buy the entire set there's a discount. I'll also have handpainted Italian Majolica plates and bowls. If you know anything about Majolica, then you know it's very expensive with the average piece starting at $60.00 each. I'm charging between $10.00 and $20.00 a piece, and everything is food safe. And if you love Cats you have to come, I will be selling my kitty kat cups, x-mas mugs, and tea pots, as well as kitty kat statues. And oh yea, my prints of Cougars, Tigers, Owls, Eagles, as well as some pagan oriented art.

Since i am the only one here that celebrates Yule, i had to do it in silence and alone. But my family celebrates Christmas..so i had to go along with them and celebrate it as well. :o) I didn't mind tho.
