![]() I'm born in 1955 in Merksem (Antwerp). I like reading, sometimes writing, learning programming.
My favourite books are sf and phantastical literature.
Age: 52 Gender: F Location: Brussels Belgium on the third floor of an old house.
My pet: I share my appartment with a white angora like cat I found in the street and that could have a strange history. As she got hair balls I cut her hairs so she looks very thin now.
My cat's possible history: The little vagabond I picked up completely negligated could be the same as the white cat that lived in a desolate house in front of my formar adress. Who knows?

Computers & Internet: Some questions
Posted 8/6/2006 9:52:25 AM As far as I know one day internet was "fixed" by two students. Can U find back their names on the web and if possible where can U find their website? Can somebody explain me what exactly a platform is (in internet software) and what it is good for? Thanks in advance.
Question About Bill Gates
Posted 8/5/2006 1:15:35 PM Bill Gates was sent to university by his parents to study law, it seems, but at his eighteen he has written or rewritten BASIC and erected Microsoft together with a certain Allen I think, it further seems, so I suppose he studied informatics in stead of law, but this is not specified in the book I'm reading, a quite thin one, for debutants, a translation of a certain Heller. Can anybody specify me a little bit more about his studies? thanks in advance.

Science: Some links I found in my search for life in the air.
Posted 7/8/2006 4:15:31 AM (I'm not really intended to turn my blog into a fun site.) Bin Laden shows new life in tapes flooding air waves
Science: Who's gonna execute the experiment?
Posted 7/8/2006 2:42:46 AM Only today I have been thinking I've nothing lost at NASA's, ESA's and kind like sites. Because their point of view is situated too high. Even ISS is already considered to be above any shape of life. Only, I never heared about research searching for life in the air. All right in space, but then is meanly meant on other planets, or in any case on one or another shape of substrate. It is not said life needs substrate, because it is what sources pretend about the deep sea: that it is the most cruel kind of cohabitation ever. (There should be substrate there also, of course, only nobody talks about it.) Substrate you find in the air as dust. Why isn't done any research for life in the air? And if there is, why have I never heared about it, and why can't I find it at Yahoo's? (Mostly I don't look at google, no need as far as I know.) It is not trivial to do research from a plane, unless maybe from a sports plane. I think you just need to take a jar for instance with waterproof closure, stretch your arm out of the window of your "craft" and take your sample of air. Then land and research it under a light microscope. If I would already succeed in the first, then certainly not in the second as nowadays they want to ban eternel students from the university after a certain age. It will come that far that NASA makes up a listing of species in the atmosphere around the nearest planet with dioxide in its atmosphere, and wanting to make a comparison with the Earth understanding with disgust we're not even yet that far. Or only around Titan. What is already done in fact. And not even for the first time during the actual Titan Mission. No, I think it was by Voyager 2. Would that gap in science be my fault? Who knows, they always reproach me for being lazy. I suppose it is about known for birds and flying animals, but who has ever heared about the height on which we still find flies, mosquitos, wasps and then what kinds?
Computers & Internet: Is Bill Gates crazy?
Posted 7/4/2006 2:01:17 PM Have you ever measured how long it takes for just uploading a pic of your complete body ?
General: About copyright
Posted 7/4/2006 1:51:22 PM 1. About the copyright of my new profile pic. The photographer is a South African I harzadly met in the street. I asked him to make my pic with MY OWN camera. I agreed. He offered me a drink. I agreed again. He gave me his address and told he lives with his sister. I never went there, but in fact I could go and take a look but I don't know where I put the address. We'll see, in any case I will keep you in touch if it is worth telling. His photograph is really outstanding, this comes only from the thumb. It is even the best picture of myself I ever saw, completely in harmony with the background also. If my cloths are not ok, then, yeah, but is it of any importance for the picture? 2. TheGuyPC, let me do you this deal proposal: your flag for a draft of my adebaran header + two drawn nude dancers. But then I need your email address. Look this is mine:thetriffids@myway.com. And else tell me as quick as possible I may keep it, because a Belgian flag is too easy to make.
Computers & Internet: Dear members of the Newblog society
Posted 7/3/2006 4:12:14 PM I would put all reactions on YOUR blog but it isn't always easy to find the textarea to do the input. Sorry I can't exptime else. As maybe you have to conclude from the last changements of my blog, I have a small problem with copyrights and so. So I suppose I have to start the hunt on Peter Motte's photographer to ask if this was all right. Although you know, during the last weekend I opened a photobook from in Yahoo. I choosed a .de account, decided to give it title: "Ohne Hemd aber mit Höschen" and wish myself already lots of fun with it . Note for the guy PC: I reread your flag post and think I understood it thus. I can make my flags myself, but yours is now uploaded, I did all that pain and computering asks lots of time.
Art & Literature: Peter Motte's picture with 99% certainty
Posted 7/1/2006 8:26:21 PM I was not on that party, a kind of a stallion TD. I'm on any of his parties. Although I have some fine ideas for fantasy stories. Because I think this pic is about nothing but that, fantasy writers living their phantasms. If this is a mistake it'll be on Yahoo's responsbility. In any case it is something flemish, be certain about that. Who the woman is, I don't know.
General: I should prepare something for my entry test for a course Dutch copywriter
Posted 7/1/2006 7:04:04 PM I have written SOMETHING today but in English. I think I am not good enough for that course. Sometimes I wish Belgium didn't exist. What shall I do now? I could continue my Dutch novel, for copying it, I mean typing it I really don't feel like. Too tiring, it is quite dark here also. Are you guys mostly with more than one or alone? Maybe certain people think I should have gone in town today, well I haven't. I WAS outside, yeah, even several times because I HAD SOMETHING TO DO, but going out in town? Sounds like a horror today. A well hated Belgian psychiatrist pretends humans should leave their home at least once a day. And why should the average man in the street do so whereas that famous Russian stayed somewhere in a small room with other people as in a can of sardines during about one and a half year? High in the sky of course else it wouldn't have been true. Or who knows, then just let him show who he is. As if a human is a dog. She certainly must have meant one may not negligate the third of ones primar needs. I can write my friend Herman and telling him my stuff. Among others I need a longer creative piece of writing, of course I can ask if he wants to correct the story I ones send in. Are there Germanists among you? Once I heared about an English student who studied English. Only Englisn, no second language. And how is that in America? I also need another two small pieces of creative Dutch writing, so then I can put them together and dump them in a certain lady's email box. Because I have already written to her for general informations but she didn't answer. You know, for that course your Dutch needs to be perfect from beforehand. So may we generally consider "copywriter" as more a specialisation for Germanists? Unless... of course. In America goes that quite easy, when you're young of course.
Among Scifi Fans: About Scifibookstore's real knowledge of genre science fiction
Posted 7/1/2006 5:32:52 AM First of all let me trust you that I regret a little bit having used the name Scifibookstore, because this is not my real name and not even my most used login. I became somewhat mad about few scifi writers and especially for 1 book I hazardly read from them. My real knowledge comes more from the wish of writing science fiction myself. Not that I can sum up you one book I would like to have written myself. Do you think this is typical for people that are no writers that they can't answer that question? Because I am none. In my youth I was more a drawer and could even paint in oil. But then I became a very modest "employee", you know meanly because of that mentality that being from the workers'class is not good enough. Whenever I get the chance to follow a free writing course, I mostly take it. But they always put that question:"what book would you like to have written yourself?" Why do they put this question? Does one really need such a book for becoming writer or do they test us out? Me I don't know, even although much from what I read I find great or found because I don't enjoy anymore since I started analysing for at least seeing the plot. About my knowledge of movies. Sometimes I go to science fiction movies. e.g. I saw Star Wars III but in fact find especially this one is far exagerated. About Stephen King: I think that's only a name that sounds great but not for me. But how can you say something wrong about the work of a writer you never read anything from? I think the name doesn't sound like real science fiction, maybe it is science fantasy ? I'll look that up for you but with some unluck that can still take years. Why don't you ask her yourself? Also the inverse of what I already said is the case with me. At school we ones read a piece of a typical Flemish writer: Jos Vandeloo. I swear you that was science fiction and among the best I ever read in Dutch, because I haven't read so much, not even one story by Peter Motte and he knows very well why. It was about a snow experiment but the snow they had made was radioactive and the people lost their hairs and were deportated. I don't think it comes from his novel "Het gevaar" which means "the danger". This is about a man who was radiated at his job by accident, he worked in a nuclear power station. I don't think if this all is translated and I have nothing to say in that world, I may just nodd. Although several years ago they asked me to sit in "De Tijdlijn"'s jury which I refused because it would it would only be to put mister Peter Motte on the last place. It's very well possible I know as badly "my" Dutch as "my" English because I'm in that kind of position that it is absolutely forbidden to follow a recognised course. Else... And why would I put him on the last place? Well because I cannot control if he is writing correct. Of course that's why he has his papers (Germanist). I could say "yes" next time, you know I can really force myself I think to read anything what is under a certain amount of words if not too high. But back to Vandeloo, if he isn't translated yet I could propose that as I am at the source. And run the risk I can close my shop. I dare tell you about this another disaster of mine because I'm not even certain NASA can bear their clip being on my site. But the clips at ifilm don't work they should replace the NASA clip about now, they're especially made for that purpose I understood. I find it a great clip and is rather put there for all my visitors would say "whoaw!". But NEVER with the aim of selling. I read such a thing only on ESA's site, you may not generalize in fact. Do you think that Vandeloo is anywhere mentioned as scifi writer? I never heared about that. What shall I do because I think he really earns that, but no one asks for that. I'm on a Dutch fantasy forum and until now for everything I posted already there was no need to be so, they said and maybe still say. Now that I was talking about my site, do you recognise a Marsian sunset in my site background? Because it IS.
For the satisfying of all TheGuyPC's needs
Posted 7/1/2006 3:53:42 AM Visit the webmaster and don't forget your feedback if possible, I don't know that guy, he'll certainly talk your language! "O Belgique, ô mère chérie Belgisch Volkslied O Belgique, ô mère chérie, A toi nos cœurs, à toi nos bras, A toi notre sang, ô Patrie ! " (O precious Belgium o precious country of our fathers our soul and our heart(s) are dedicated to you accept our heart and the blood of our veins be our aim in labor and in fight flourish o country in union not to break be immer yourself and never ensclaved the word fidelity you may talk without fear For Frost sorry for Monarch, for freedom and for Right(trice but drop that frost it was meant as joke) (I didn't find an audio file of "our" national hymn immediately) We Flemish also had a popular version that went like this: "oh precious Belgium our ass cannot shit because his anus is pasted with glue."
Society: Belgians soon to election cabinet
Posted 7/1/2006 2:37:27 AM Whether it is for the country or the community I'm not certain, I think for the country. I was searching my invitation a while ago but don't find it already anymore. No worry, because I intend not to go. Months ago I was a member of politics.be forum, but at a certain moment they have cleant their forum from marginal individuals as I am also thus, most if not ALL my friends in tangible world (well..you can touch a computer also in fact, does anybody know the real terminology?) don't surf, and IF they hazardly DO do it, it would certainly be on water. Not definitely of course, I once got an answer on my "why": around the elections they would create a possibility for the big public to exprime their wishes. Quite naive don't you agree as foreigners? Maybe typical for a small country as Belgium. I put them on spam so maybe I will never hear about them again until the day they come in the internet actuality. Damned what am I jabbering about? I do have a special wish indeed. I would like the royal family to disappear from the official press for private business. Quite normal or did I say something wrong? It could encourage editors' initiative for creating new magazines in the genre of "Royalty" and so on. We are a 2nd world country with poor agriculture. Or that's my opinion. DO I SAY SOMETHING WRONG? Shall I try to login once again at politics.be?
Society: NEVER
Posted 6/30/2006 12:38:08 AM Bad News For The Newblog Society It's gonna be tough here! A couple of minutes ago I saw that a phentermine like individual has "signed up" for a blog at the Newblog community. Hazardly yesterday I brought my spam problems with that kind of guys for the first time in the webproworld.com forum. First question: How serious is that man or woman? Second question: does he or she post his or her "articles" himself or does it go automaticly? Let's go for a small examination ourself. Phentermine, viagra, cialis and all that rubbish promotors are already loyal visitors of my "experimental blog" http://members.lycos.nl/barastanda Although I didn't do that yet I can still at least TRY to write an anti spam program overthere, you don't believe it do you? NO PHENTERMINE GUY, I 'LL TAKE YOU NEVER AS MY FRIEND, BUT BE CONVINCED YOU'RE MY ENNEMY NUMBER ONE
Science: Some weather impressions
Posted 6/23/2006 3:19:55 PM No heavy science, just some weather pictures: one from a rainbow that showed up right in front of my kitchen window. The other a rainy street, end of a sequence of a shower.

Posted 6/11/2006 10:24:18 AM This is my new blog after they destroyed the previous one by spamming so that I couldn't upload files any more. Let's hope they stay away still for a while so that there can be posted undistured here. |
