Looking for everyone

Hey everybody,
It's been a while since I've heard from you all. I just want to see how everyone is doing. How were you holidays?
I had a very wonderful Christmas! I had all of my children and their spouses over. My two beautiful grandchildren were here too. What a great time we all had!
The new year came along and with it came a wee bit of snow. For me, I would be much happier if it never snowd again! If we have to have snow at all, I prefer it be just a wee bit!
I have been working a bit on my webstore so please go check it out! I am putting the web address in this post for you if you would like to go.
www.lttjewelery.com
You can just copy and post in you browser.
Please don't feel obligated to go to it or to buy anything. I am not interested in sales made out of obligation. If you buy, do so because you want to. I would appreciate feedback about my site. Let me know if you think the prices are too high or if there is something you think you might think people would like to see. That would be so helpful!
I guess I'll be seeing you around again, I hope!

It's a new year!

Well, we are a week into the new year. I wonder how many people have been sticking to their resolutions.
I know I am. I made a resolution 5 years ago that I have had no problem keeping. How is that possible??? Well, I was very realistic with what I wanted. I didn't set impossible goals and I knew that I could carry this out for the rest of my life.
What is it , you ask. It's simple. I resolved to never make another new years resolution again because I was never going to force myself to do things that I was not really ready to do. I have kept that resolution for the last 5 years and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.
I am wishing you all a most happy new year.
I hope you all are having a wonderful time. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Let's read

My grandson, who is six years old and is in kindergarden, and I have a very special bond.
Ever since he was brought home from the hospital when he was born, I would read him a story at bedtime. That's right, since he was 3 days old. I have purchased hundreds of dollars, no... make that thousands, on story books for him. He has every little golden book that I could lay my hands on. He also has ALL of the Dr. Seuss books as well as children's bible stories and a children's bible.
Two days ago when he was visiting me, we decided it was story time. We went upstairs to his familie's apartment to get some books to read.
I know that he knows the different letter sounds so I picked out Green Eggs And Ham, Go Dog Go, and The Cat In The Hat. All written by Dr. Seuss. I figured I would see if he could read any of the books. Needless to say, he read Green Eggs And Ham from cover to cover with very little help. I was so impressed. I know that there aren't any kids in his class who can read yet.
I volunteer time at his classroom one or two days a week, and tomorrow is one of them. I can't wait to tell his teacher that he is reading. I am soooo proud of him and I have always said he was smart. This is just the icing on the cake.
If you go to this web address, you can see him reading on a little film clip.

let me know what you think. He's really sweet.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

The LTTJewelery store will have it's grand opening on Thursday, the 23rd of November. I know that is Thanksgiving day, but you won't be eating the entire day. I'm sure you'll be going to your newblog space and maybe a few other places on the computer. I hope you will take a few minutes to come to my jewelery store and have a look around. If you should decide that you want to purchase something, I am giving a 5% discount on all purchases up to $200.00. Any purchase over $200.00 will receive an extra 5% discount. Just put the code: THGD23 into the coupon code space and I will take care of the rest. This sale will continue through the end of the month. I look forward to seeing you in my store. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Just praaaaaaaay for me!

Well, as usual, I was going to open on Halloween but Go daddy locked me out of my website. I don't know why it keeps happening but I'm beginning to think that go daddy doesn't like me.
After a lot of frustrating stupid things happening, obviously, I didn't open up yet.
My hubby, that wonderful smart man that he is, has been diligently working to clean them up.
It now seems like I might be able to open just in time for TRhanksgiving. I SURE hope so. I am just going to pray and leave it to God to decide if that is the right time. I know that if it is what he wants me to do then he will make it happen. Soooo, please lift up your voices to The Lord and ask him to help me to go the way he wants me to. Thank you!!

Not yet...Obstacles in our way

I have been working so hard to get my store open, I was planning on Halloween. Ahhhh, alas that is not to be. Maybe the week after wil be the beginning. I will definitely let you all know when the grand opening is to come about. I must get back to work and get things moving a little better. Thank you all for being so patient with me. God Bless you all!

The Phantom!

Hey everyone! This week-end was fabulous. I went to NY with 2 of my children and my daughter-in-law. We went up to my step-mom's house on Long Island. Getting up there was incredible. Traffic was at an all time slow. It took me 3 hours to get to the north ern side of Baltimore and it should have only taken an hour and a half. What a mess. Anyway, what should have been a 5 to 6 hour triip took us 9 hours. We arrived there at 11:30 p.m. and went in quietly enough to not awaken mom. I was pretty tired after all that driving so when I fell asleep I slept hard!
Saturday morning we all got up and planned our day. We decided to go into the city and just make a day of it.
We got on the train rather than just drive because a vehicle with out of state plates will be broken into faster than you could possible believe. I know this because it happened to me a few years ago.
My son and his wife really wanted to have lunch at one of the many concession stands. They had heard that the food was to die for, so we had lunch there. My son really loved their hot dogs with onions that were cooked in a red sauce and dijon mustard. My daughter-in-law had a shishkebab in a pita with onion, lettuce & tomato with a cucumber sauce. I forget how to spell it but it is called a tsatiki sauce, or something like that. She said it was the best thing she has ever had, and my son said the same about the hot dogs. I have to agree with theboth of them. I used to live in NY and had the hot dogs every time I went into the city.( I was born and raised on Long Island.)
We did the little touristy thing of walking around and taking in all of the sights and sounds and smells of the big apple. I saw people from all walks of life, from the homeless to the very wealthy, although the wealthy were in stretch limosines. The homeless seemed to be happier than those who had money, but I won't even go there right now. That is for a later discussion.
As we walked around we smelled some of the most wonderful smells, and also some bad ones.
The scents of the women's parfumes were usually pretty nice. I could even smell the scent of clean laundry. I have to admit, I really like that smell.
All of a sudden there was themost wonderful odor that hit me in the face. It smelled somewhat like the odors you would smell coming from a bakery. I got a bit excited just trying to find the bakery so I could buy some freshly made cookies. However, that was not what I found. I followed the scent to another one of the famous concession stands. They had roasted nuts. I couldn't believe that there was where the delicious smell came from. We bought some roasted nuts and shared them as we continued on our journey.
The next wonderful odor we came upon when the door to the hershey store was opened. My daughter said" I think the pearly gates have just been opened." I have to go in there. Needless to say, we went in. There was all kinds of chocolate confections just waiting to be eaten. I spent $27.00. My daughter asked me why I bought candy that I could surely buy in any grocery store. Why indeed? I'm sure I don't really know the answer to that question other than the fact that I rarely go into the grocery store and everything I purchased was to help with breast cancer research. There were several items in that store that the profits from those candies are donated to the research. That was a good ebough reason for me.
At around 4:30 we decided to go and find a good place to have dinner before the show began. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe. My son and his wife were celebrating their first wedding anniversary and my daughter was celebrating her 28th birthday. I made sure that the waitress totally embarrassed them. I had a good laugh over that as did everyone else.
The one thing that surprised me was that the cold and wind were managing to get past the skyscrapers every now and then. It just was a little reminder of what is to come when winter hits.
Now for the show. It was absolutely FANTASTIC! The music and the special effects were phenominal! The voices were awesome and the actors were just ALL THAT and a cup of tea too!!! ANyone who has the opportunity to go to NY city should make sure they get tickets for The Phantom Of The Opera. It is such a wonderful awesome to see this on Broadway! You all need to go there! We ledt the theater at 10:40 and hurrued to catch our train back to mom's house. By the time we got back to the train station in Glen Head, everyone was hungry so we went to Taco Bell/Kentucky Fried and bought some food. We got to mom's and ate then went to bed. Wewere going to meet my father-in-law for breakfast the next day at 9:30 and then go on our way out of the area.
We went to the cemetary where our relatives were buried to talk to our lost loved ones and say a few prayers. We began our long journey home at 12:30 and arrived home at 7:30 p.m.
So, that was my week-end. How was yours?

My Store Opening

Hey everybody, get ready because my store will be opening on HALLOWEEN! That is going to be a great day for me and all of my friends.
Keep your eyes open for the announcement.

The next few days

Well, I am really excited. I am going to NY to see The Phantom Of The Opera. I am leaving Friday morning and can't wait. Unfortunately, I will not have my computer with me so I will not be seeing you all online til I get back Sunday night. I am taking my daughter for her 28th birthday, and also my son and his wife are coming too. I will be in touch with you when I get back.

Patience is a virtue. do I have it?

So my hubby comes home from work last night and says, "I'll have you up and running tonight." I get a twinge of excitement in the pit of my stomach. My heart doeas a flip and I can barely contain the anaticipation I am feeling. I go into my office and start looking through some paperwork, paying some bills, and just trying to be patient. Oh, I forgot to tell you that it is now 7:30 p.m. My hubby eats his dinner, and kicks back a bit to relax after dinner and collect his thoughts. I stepped out of my office to get a drink and find hubby resting his head on his hand and almost falling over because he is SLEEPING! "Hey dear, are you ok?" I ask. Oh yeah he says after getting over the fact that I startled him a bit. I ask if he is going to work on my store and he replies yes, as he reaches for his computer. "Thank you honey," I say. "I'll go watch some tv in the bedroom so as not to disturb you," and I walk away with the hopes of being able to get started on my store by the next morning.
So, as I am watching tv for the next hour or so, I am thinking about what I will get accomplished the next day. Oh yeah, so close I can taste it!
At 9:00 p.m. I go out to the living room to see how things are going and, guess what?, he's asleep again. This time he is doing one of those head falling backwards and snapping forward like a bobble head moves. Well, my hopes have been dashed again. I have heard "I'll have your store up and ready for you to work on by the end of the night" line one too many times.
Now I know I am beginning to sound like an ungreatful woman, but I have asked him if he wanted me to hire someone else several times now and always the same answer. No, he will get it done for me.
I will be the first one to tell you that he has worked his butt off on this website for me. I also am aware of the fact that he works on the computer all day long and he deserves to rest after dinner. The problem, I feel, is that I think I have lost my patience now. It has been six months, I have completed my schooling and am dying to implement what I have learned. I need to get this store up and running. I am sitting in limbo right now and I hate it. I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with no where to go.
I'm sure these feelings will go away as soon as I have something I can do in my store. I just hope it won't be too much longer and I don't really want to hear that line again. You know, "
I'll have you up and running tonight."
Please, Dear God, give me the patience and please help me not be a nagging ungreatful wife.

I'm Sooooo Tired

Well, last night I turned the lights off at 12:45a.m. I fell asleep so quickly. Unfortunately, at 3:00 a.m. I woke up, went to the bathroom and then back to bed. I closed my eyes, anticipating that I would fallz asleep right away. Not true! I tried to relax without any success. I decided to go out into the living room and play around on the computer thinking I would make myself sleepy. Yeah, riiiiight. I played poker until 8:45 a.m. when my hubby left for work. I gave him a kiss good-bye wished him a great day and locked the door.
I started to walk to my bedroom and remembered that I was waiting for the FEDEX man to pick up a package that my daughter needed to send to California. When she arrived home to her apartment, which is right above mine, she came in and took the package upstairs. At that point, I had gotten my second wind and sleeping wasn't an option. I worked a bit more on my website then went to take a shower. Afterwards, I went with my daughter to pick up my granddaughter from her pre-k class. When we got home, we had lunch and then I planned on taking a nap. My granddaighter, who is 3, said she wanted to take a nap with grandma. That was fine with me since I know she sleeps about an hour and a half to two hours, and nap we did! Thank GOD for that. After that nap, I felt a whole lot better. To that I say "AMEN!" That nap was a good pick me up, but I am now soooo tired and I'm going to bed so I can, hopefully, get a good nights sleep. I will bid you all a good night and sweet dreams to all!

What a Man!

I am a very blessed woman. I have been married for 31 years, and all to the same man.
God knows, there were times when we came close to divorce, but we married for better or worse, so we stuck it out. I'm glad we did too. We belong together.
My hubby spent the last week working on his lunch breaks and then at home after dinner til midnight working on my website. He is a programmer analyst. He has never made a webpage before but taught himself all that is necessary to pull info from a cd so it could be organized properly into my site, as well as how to display it in my e-commerce store. It was a lot of work, and something I am sure I would have taken about 2 years to learn. I should have my store up and running within a very short time. I have to price about 500 items, and there will be lots more to add.
I am so proud of my man. Despite our previous problems, he has been a god send to me.

Barbeque you say?

Today is Labor Day. A day of no work and barbeques. That's easy for you to say!
My children, their spouses and my hubby and I had a barbeque planned and just realized that is not possible. We all live in the same apartment complex and back in July, the fire marshal said we couldn't have propane gas tanks within 15 feet of the building. Well guess what? We all have propane barbeques and the fire marshal took all of our gas tanks away. That didn't matter at the time, but now that we want to have a barbeque, we can't. Oh well, my daughter is going to make a london broil in her oven and we'll have to make do with that.

Jewelery: Almost there

Well this holiday week-end has certainly been a good one.
Last night my hubby and I went out to dinner with my daughter and her husband and their little girl. My little redheaded vixen. We had a very nice meal together and it was good quality time together.
My husband has been diligently working in my website today. He started at about 10 this morning and is still wroking on it now, 8:50 p.m. I do appreciate the hard work he is putting into this for me. I will have to do something special for him when we actually get this website launched and working. I am so hopeful that I get this store opened and running. I hope that will be real soon.
I guess that's all for now. I'll keep you informed.

Jewelery: All for the Love of Jewelery

Well, let's see. How do I start? I guess the beginning is the best place to start. The only problem with that is that it's a long story, so I'll try to condense it.
Let me start where this all began. I was working in a hospital ER and just absolutely LOVING the job. I could make people feel better and comfort them when they were at their worst. How awesome is that? Yes, I was in the nursing field. Unfortunately, the tables were turned and now I was the patient. I was the one needing medical care and for the rest of my life I will no longer be able to do what I enjoyed so well. I am medically disabled from a carotid artery dissection. (Translated that means that my carotid artery, the main blood feed for the brain, has shrunk down and has only a 1% opening. It no longer feeds blood to my brain the way it should.)Dr.'s orders, no stress, no strain, no work!
Anyway, that was 10 years ago. Since then I have been trying to find something to keep me busy. I purchased a PC and have been looking online for things I could do or get involved with. Needless to say, I found I could shop for ANYTHING through the internet. How much fun is THAT? LOTS! I started buying things that I could give to myfamily for birthdays, Christmas, or any other gift giving occasion. I also found out how to get some of the most beautiful jewelery at more affordable prices than the local jewelery stores. The only problem was that the prices were still a wee bit out of reach.
I finally found what I wanted to do. I was going to find a way to get jewelery and sell it to others at prices that were most definitely affordable.
March of this year, 2006, I started my hunt and researched what I would need to do. I entered into a business class and commenced the hard work of making my own business.
I had no idea what I was doing and the venture became my driving force. Since I love jewelery so much, I have to do this. I have to make an e-commerce store. I feel that this is what I was meant to do.
Well after alot of work by my husband, the programmer analyst, I am almost ready to open my store. I am so close, I can taste it but it requires a little more work. Soon, that's all I can say. I'm trying not to get too frustrated from waiting this out. I'm anxious and so happy that I will be able to help others again and I won't stress or strain over this.
I know, you want to know how this is going to help others. Let me tell you. For those of you who love someone, it will be very helpful. I'm not just talking about a true love, but also your moms, dads grandparents, brothers and sisters. Now you will be able to show them how much you love them with a very special gift of love. My store will have absolutely beautiful jewelery at prices you can afford and you can tell them all that you love them with a special gift that was selected just for them. Whether it be earrings, bracelets, rings necklaces, chains, or any other type of jewelery you are looking for, my store will be able to sell you just the right thing at jsut the right price.
I'll let you know when my store opens and you can come and see for yourselves. You'll be able to select from hundreds of items and special orders will not be a problem.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it..LOL
