Today we went to the store with Daddy. I love to go shopping with him. We got groceries and went to the Wal-Mart store. Brother got a new pair of sunglasses but I didn't. That was sure a bummer. I was pretty good about it.

It was really hot in the car driving to the store. I sat in my carseat and had to be buckled in tight, but my car seat was so hot!

Yesterday after church we took a picnic to the park. (I call it a pic-pic) I was so excited to play on the merry-go-round I did not want to eat. I love to get dizzy. Sometimes ay home I spin around till I fall down. And Daddy's office chair spins good too. In this way I am totally like Daddy, since he liked to do the same thing as a kid but Mommy hated it. It's funny how I take certain obvious traits from one or the other.

Mommy is tired and grumpy. She gets impatient with me and brother, but I still love her a lot.

We have two teddy bears that I have been playing with a lot. I call them brother and sister bear, just like me and Brother. I put them to bed and I like to carry them around.

I've been using my doodle tray to draw really neat pictures.

Today I put my wooden train cars to bed on the floor. I kissed them each and told them, "Goodnight, I so love you." Then I gave them a froggie doll to sleep with.

When mommy asks me for help, I go get her a diaper for my baby brother. I have all the pictures memorized so I know which ones belong to him and which are mine. I also do my chore every day which is to get some dog food from the bin in an orange plastic cup and bring it over and put it in Piper's dish.

Last night I got to stay up and watch the fireworks. We walked up a path to a hill in the dark and my twinkly Thomas shoes lit up the darkness. I have to admit that they were quite a bit more fun than the actual fireworks. I found that my friend K and her Mommy were watching the fireworks on the same hill so we got to watch them together and we talked a lot and laughed.

Usually Piper, the dog, stays under the desk to get away from me. But right now she is outside so I took my brown truck and my fire truck book and my new ball under there and I am reading the book to my other two toys. I am sure they like it.

My brother has started scooting on his tummy today. That means he will be crawling soon. I am already really annoyed by him grabbing my toys and now he can get any one he wants! This is really, really bad. I finally retreated to the couch so he'd leave me alone. I can't figure out why Mommy is so excited.

I talk a lot and I love to make conversation with the grownups. The problem is, I only have a couple of topics. So I use them over and over. Throughout the day, I ask where Daddy is a lot. I know he is at work, but I like to talk about him. I also ask if we can go somewhere. I like to go to the store or the park and when we get dressed I always think that we're getting ready to go somewhere cool. I'm learning to be patient when we're just staying at home too.

When Mommy drinks Instant Breakfast in the morning, I beg to have some too. It's yummy and tastes like chocolate milk. Today she put some in my spiderman cup and I also got some Teddy Grahams. What a yummy snack!

Last night when we got back from running errands, Mommy and I drew our town for my little cars. We put a big roll of freezer paper on the floor and we drew roads and lots of important places like the water tower, the Wal-Mart store and the park with the slide. Mommy drew a hill with a big green tractor on it too, just like we see when we drive home.

Today our church was in the park. I did not want to sit still while the pastor talked because I wanted to play with my friends so much. When the church part was over I was so excited to go up to the slides and swings and play. I slid down the really tall slide over and over, something my three-year-old friend won't even do.

Out in the front yard, Daddy set me and brother on the big red quilt. Then he flapped the sides and told us it was a magic carpet. We flew to all sorts of places.

Today I got up really late and I was in a good mood. I wonder what we'll do today. I'd like to color with markers and play at the park. Maybe I'll just play with toys.

Edited later: Daddy took me and brother to the park on his lunch break. What a great daddy!

Mommy's friend read in a magazine that when you're a stay-at-home-mom "The days are long but the years are short." It is true. The last few weeks I have managed to make some really long days for Mommy, but they are still flying by and I will turn three this fall.

Today I ate chocolate Teddy Grahams and Oh's for my snack. I played with my stroller and watched Clifford and Caillou and Barney. For lunch I had applesauce and waffles and some of Mommy's meatballs and curly noodles. I got in trouble when I wouldn't settle down for my nap and I have been having a lot of trouble sharing my toys with Brother since he is moving around more and can get them. But otherwise I was really sweet this morning. I got a wipe for Mommy when Brother spit up and when he was fussing, I told Mommy, "Don't worry, Mommy." I also learned two new letters today. L for Love and J for Jesus. I almost know my whole alphabet.

Today I decided to push the boundaries of my little world as far as they would go. I bet Mommy will go to bed early tonight.

I watched my Thomas-a-Train show in the car on the way home from the cabin. It made the long trip seem much better.

I like the cabin. Mommy makes me a special little bed on the floor and I have a heater in my room because I have Raynaud's Syndrome. We got to go hiking in the Ancient Cedars and I rode on B's shoulders when I got tired. Throwing rocks in the river is my favorite thing to do at the cabin.

My darling little Goomba,

I just had to take this time when the house is quiet and you are asleep to write to you and tell you how much I love you. I am so incredibly blessed to be your mommy. Today was one of those hard days that you will never understand until you have two little people of your own. You guys both pushed my buttons till I thought i was going to go crazy! It is on days like these that I think I forget to tell you how much I love you. But I do. I know I have to act like the bad guy all the time because it is my job to teach you how to be good and I have to keep you safe, but there are so many times that I wish I could just stop being the mother and be your friend because you are such a cool little kid! I love the way your hair refuses to be tamed. It is wispy and curly and wild all the time. Don't ever let anyone truly tame you, not even me. Keep some of the wonder and wildness of life in you. I love the way you know exactly what you want. You remind me so much of myself it is a little freaky at times. It is the thing that drives me nuts but at the same time the thing that is most endearing too. I love those little things that are uniquely you, the way you made the little sucky face when you were a baby and you were hungry, the way you call music "nats" even though we have no idea where that word came from. I love that you are a rug-straightener, like I am. You like to put things away and tidy up, just like I do. You were so sweet today the way you went over and gave your little brother a kiss on the top of his head. You two are so good for each other. If it were not for him, I truly believe that I would not be able to resist spoiling you absolutely rotten and that would not be good for you. I wish I could spend all day every day telling you how deeply I love you. You are so amazing. I find myself studying your big, beautiful brown eyes, your perfect eyelashes. I am so glad you are not sick all the time like I was as a kid. It appears you inherited Daddy's healthy genes and that is well, because life is easier when you have good health. Little girl, I so want the best for you. If I could place the world in your hands, I would. But all I can do is pray for you and give you back daily to God who entrusted you to me. He knows what is the very best for you. I love spending every day with you. It's so fun to watch you learn new things and discover the world around you. You are always saying and doing such unexpected things. I treasure all the fun little things you do and especially your hugs. They are very rare; I almost have to force you to hug me. I was the same way and did not like to be touched. But I know you love me anyway. Being a parent is different than I thought it would be. The past 2 1/2 years have been amazing and scary and wonderful and frustrating and delightful all at the same time. I'm sure I'll do a million things wrong as a parent, but I know I'll do at least this one thing right. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I plan to tell you in every way I can think of every day of your life.

Love, Mommy

Tonight Mommy ran errands and I got to go! We bought big boxes of diapers at the Wal-Mart store and some maple extract at the grocery store for Daddy to bake yummy scones. We also went to the Goodwill store to buy brother some sweats to wear at the cabin. I got to bring my ABC-frog to the store and I even got to bring it in with me. He rode around in the shopping cart with me. I like to help Mommy put the things on the belt and hand money to the lady. That is fun and I feel so big when I do that.

Mommy and Brother and I are going to have a pajama day today and I am wearing my Nemo jammies. It's rainy outside, so it's a good day to stay in jammies and snuggle.

Mama got me some new high-white chalk (sidewalk chalk) a while back and when Daddy and I got it out this afternoon there are lots of cool colors in it! Daddy drew a surfer on the front sidewalk and I drew a happy heart. I even colored it in...bright pink.

I've been saying the funniest things like, "The [toy] truck was vrooming on the table," or "I hear the doggie ruffing outside." I'm getting so good at thinking that I need extra words to say it all.

We went to the little park today but there were no kids there. It was no fun to play all by myself. I whined about it till Mommy got fed up with me hanging on her and whining so she made us go home. Mommy says she remembers being really lonely all the time as a kid too. Pretty soon Brother will be old enough to play and hopefully I'll play with my best friend really soon.

I guess I was sad about my baby a little too early. She isn't liking her apartment at all. It is buggy and basment-y and she really hates to fix food for herself. Not a cook. I think she may be back soon.

Hi Goomba's Mom. Well, my baby officially moved out last night. It hit me rather suddenly and rather hard. Her apartment is old and small but she is so proud of it. She's been nesting and planning. She should be very cozy.

HI Goomba's Mommy. J is really sick today. It would be good if you would pray. I've found a natural supplement curative on the internet, but it will take a few days to come.

Hi Sweet Goomba. Tell your Mom that your Auntie J has Mono. She's not too contagious as long as she doesn't kiss or share drinks. She's not super happy though.
